There are a few things that I would like to have on my GMC Sierra that don't seem too difficult or expensive and I would like to tell GM about them but I don't know of a system for that.  For example, I would like to know what gear I am in at any particular time.  The gear numbers are on the display for "Manual Shift" but not for "Automatic".  Why not have a way to use those numbers in the "Automatic" mode?

Next - I have cameras all around my truck yet I have to stick a "Dash Cam" on the windscreen to record events.  Why not add a recorder for the cameras that are already installed.

Finally - Ford has an "Interior Work Surface" option on their trucks ($150 option) such that the top of the center console folds forward to make a shelf.  I would like that on my next Sierra.

I agree every manufacturer should have a built in dashcam. Of course there are a lot that don't want their driving recorded so there would be a big push back on that.

Those work surface things are a pretty big flop for the F150. Rarely used if at all by most that have it. You have to dork around with the folding shifter, only can be used that way. I had it. Used it once during delivery demo and that was it. I'm not about to turn my truck into a picnic table. No one eats in my truck.

Great ideas!

As far as the camera recordings are concerned, newer vehicles that have body and dash cameras are actively recording video while you drive.  In the event of an impact, images will be stored and can be extracted using the correct software and hardware through the Bosch/Vetronix Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) tool.  The CDR kit, combined with Berla, has been a game changer in the accident reconstruction community.
