So here I sit.  Almost 10 years to the day from purchasing my first silverado (2014 dbl cab LT).  Did a ton of work colormatching the bumpers and grille, swapping to LTZ headlights, and doing an exhaust cutout.  After having kids I needed a crew cab and jumped to Ram as the interiors on the GMs were horrible at the time.  That too was a great truck that I had done some work lifting and squeezing 35s under.  Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) when gas was at its highest, and car loan rates were crazy high I decided to get out of a truck and into a grand cherokee 4xe.  AWESOME suv by the way.  Massaging seats, heads up display, passenger screen and everything.  But it only took me about a week to realize i screwed up and needed a truck again.

Fast forward a few months and here we are.  My wifes traverse lease is just about up and we are looking to trade it in on a truck (shell take the jeep).  With GM offering 2.9% x 72 months it seems like a great time to hop on it.

Looking at an RST crew cab 4x4 with the 6.2l.  Dealer not offering much of a discount ($2,000) but the equity on the lease certainly helps.

Not that i need much convincing but talk me into pulling the trigger.

I know I’m going to get a lot of jazz for this. Buy a CPO midsize car and a used truck. It will end up costing the same or less. I finally wised up ten years ago and did just that. Couldn’t be happier.

i need a reliable full sized truck or at least a full size SUV (tahoe/burb).  Make multiple trips between my house and cabin towing quads and tons of gear.  Also used car loans so much higher APR that it really narrows the gap.

One also needs to consider the cost of insurance and licensing with getting an extra vehicle. Here in SC the sales tax is capped at $500 on vehicle sales so you would be paying twice as much in sales tax as a starter. Plus there is the issue of an extra vehicle taking up garage or driveway space, ask me how I know.

In Texas GMs full size SUVs are plentiful and lose a lot of value in a year or two of new. And are great buys that way.

If your leasing vehicles you must have the income to waste for it. Do whatever makes you happy.

looking at buying now (for the truck).... leasing was great while it was but now its kind of bit us in the ass with the skyrocketing prices.  Even more so with used car prices tanking which is hurting what equity at trade we might get.

In Texas you pay sales tax at purchase. Yearly registration is around 72$. My old avalanche has liability insurance. In the 4 years I’ve owned it costs me about 8K including purchase and insurance. I can name a few mid sized cars that are well equipped for under 30K. Those combined would net a cheaper insurance premium. As far as room, you have me there. I forget most people are limited there. I always had the room for lots of vehicles. I live in the sticks and have a large family. In that case where room is a consideration I go with CPO.

That's interesting.  In GA we have ad valorem tax of which prior to 2013, on your birthday (it was called the birthday tax) you paid a percentage each year of what the vehicles value was to renew your tags.  It was EXPENSIVE.  Then in 2013 they went to a different model that when you paid your sales tax during purchase of the vehicle (around 7% depending on what county you live in), your ad valorem tax was included in that 7% too!  So now all we pay is 20 bucks a year regardless of what your vehicle is worth.  Best damn thing they ever went to!!  I remember writing checks for 3 vehicles all of those prior years for 1200, 1500 etc etc depending on what I owned for vehicles and their worth.  That sucked!!!  LOL

They just voted to eliminate vehicle inspections in most of the state. I don’t agree with that one.

That one can be sketchy at best.  I first moved to Atlanta back in 87.  There were no vehicle inspections here at all.  In the early 90's came the emission inspections.  But still no vehicle inspections to this day.  The most observable problem with that is people like to run bald tires, of which accounts for most all of the accidents when it rains here.  Cracked windshields, headlights out (padidle?) I think it's called in Texas.... yeah these cars around here are shot, and some running 2 or 3 doughnut tires going down the road at 80mph.....LOL...this place is a mess for sure.  And let's not talk about the charger owners that love to spin around at the intersections....oh yeah, we have that too...Great time to live near Atlanta...NOT!!!  Just a few more years buddy of this insanity.  I just hope my wife and I survive it without having to do something that will put us in jail.  We both are packing but for defense only.  But that doesn't matter these days even in a defensive mode.  How ta hell did we get to this place in this life?  Edit:  One more thing, I have to turn on recirc mode in my truck to keep out the smell of weed while driving most anywhere here.  True story!  The smell of weed makes me want to puke.  Damn I hate that crap.

Don't hold back , tell us how you really feel. We lived up there for a few years, had to get out. With all the jokes about Floriduh it's still alot easier to live here.
