My 2019 Silverado LD locked me out with the keys in the ignition.  It has power door locks which my wife inadvertently touched when she got out and then closed the door.   Called wrecker and got it opened.

Tried several times after I got home (and had 2nd set of keys handy).   Every time it did the same thing.  Keys in ignition and hit door lock.  Locked out.

Called dealer and they had no answer except maybe it had to do with the trim package (it is fairly plain Jane)

wondering if anyone has also had this issue and if they found a solution.

thanks

I'm pretty sure that there is a setting for that in your trucks menue. Go into settings.

I went into settings and changed each available lock setting and tried the process.  Nothing changed.

I then hit Restore Factory Settings (I bought truck used w/14k) It did make it so I couldn’t lock myself out from the drivers side, but still can from passenger side.

Does anyone know of a way to contact the company directly?

I have 6 friends who own Silverado or Sierra trucks ranging from 2014-2021.
Contacted each of them and had them try the same scenario: keys in ignition, exit driver door and close, lock vehicle from passenger side and close.  All of them were locked out.

They were not aware the situation could occur.

checked my mothers 2014 Equinox and it will lock you out in this same way.

Starting to think it’s not a fluke or a setting that needs changing.  Thinking more in terms of design/engineering error. Maybe.

if you own a GM product that uses a key, and has power locks, it would be worth testing this scenario to see what happens.

it’s a situation that probably wouldnt occur often (lockout), but can be very inconvenient waiting for road service to unlock if it does.

im thinking it might be somewhat more likely to occur with a female passenger getting out of truck, since it’s sometimes more difficult for them to exit a truck.  They might be more apt to grab or lean on lock area for more assistance.

These are my latest thoughts.

My 19 locked me out with my fob in my backpack sitting on the rear seat when I closed the back door. I had it running by remote to warm it up at work and this occurred when I unlocked the rear door, placed my backpack on the seat and closed the door. When I tried the front door it was locked. I didn't unlock via fob but the keyless button on the back door handle, and I know for a fact this unlocks all the doors and not just the one. I luckily had my phone on me and called OnStar and they sent an emergency unlock as a courtesy even though I'm not signed up.
