I searched for this topic before posting so hopefully I'm not reposting.  Had my truck since end of August 2023.  Rearview camera mirror has worked perfectly until this issue started about a month ago.  Still works great during the day but horrible at night.  The less light the worse it gets.  Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Haven't seen / heard of that one before.

Hopefully your not over miles on the warranty.

Does it work ok with camera mode off?

Should function like an auto-dimming mirror when camera mode is off.

Yes, it works fine when not in camera mode.  I'm still under warranty.  I'm going to bring it in.

Let me know what answers you get… I’m going through something similar. But it has to do with glare/starburst like images at night, see photo.. I’m still under warranty and dealership is giving me a hard time.. I did a Reddit post all about this. Again, lmk

We have 2 vehicles with camera rear view mirror.

They both work, but we run them with the camera off.

Try cleaning the lens with window cleaner. Don't just wipe it off with a dry rag.

Lens isn't dirty. Dealer installed brand new camera that's by the third brake light housing after showing them the photos thinking it would solve the issue (and i hoped so too). But It didn't and now they're refusing to do anything further, saying since they installed a new camera this is how it should normally look.

I'm like, seriously guys?!? Like I bought the truck new, I KNOW what's its suppose to look like. Service it saying it normal. effin crazy. now i'm left trying to find used 2022s in my area and do a test drive at night and shoot photos for them.. absolute nonsense..

Man that’s disappointing.  It’s 4 components for that camera mirror.  The camera, a harness that goes from the camera to the inside of the cab.  Then another harness that runs alone the headliner.  And finally the mirror/screen.  If you get somewhere with the dealer, maybe push for a new mirror/screen replacement?

I hope the dealership replaces the unit for you. I generally don't drive with my camera rearview mirror on, I guess I'm scared for if it goes bad. But at the same time, I do find it awesome when on a multilane highway it basically cleans up the the blindspots around the truck. Ever since I tinted all my windows again, and in the rear back half from factory It's removed all the glare from interior lighting to the windows, so I just roll with that versus the camera rear on at night, or most of the time.

Can anyone post a pic of what theirs look like at night maybe at a stop light or something? something I can use to show the dealer

Have you played with the mirror camera 'brightness' and 'zoom' settings?

Mine doesn't seem as bad as what's in your picture, but it definitely has some 'hallowing'. (if that's the term)

Hallowing severity depends on ambient light and of course the type and aim of the lights of the other vehicles.

In camera mode it the road behind appears more like in daylight (and of course this changes with brightness and zoom settings)

I use it in mirror mode because mirror mode view is crystal clear and without hallowing.

I would likely use it if the mirror view was blocked by things in the vehicle.

This is our 3rd vehicle with camera rearview -- only have it because it's part of a package that had to be added to get other things I wanted.

I do like the Auto-dimming feature. Camera mirror is auto dimming when camera is off.

Auto-dimming has spoiled me -- I'd prefer not to go back to a manual dimming.

As I write this I'm wondering if the auto-dimming in camera mode is not working on yours.

Presumably dealer service has a diagnostic procedure to test that function.

Mine works pretty good but in foggy conditions does odd things like shown above.  I still like it better than no camera as the normal mirror does not have great view with rear headrest.

I don't like the mirror camera, I only use it when bed cover is fully up blocking the window with a tall load.

I keep the rear headrests folded down when back seat is unoccupied.

Don’t have enough time to write a long post but long story short: I brought it to another dealership since it’s still under factory warranty (Greater Lowell GMC). They looked at it and it only took them 1 second to see something was wrong, service advisor literally said, “yeah that’s not right,” after seeing the image on my rear view mirror.  I was like “THANK YOU!!!” Finally someone believing me without me having to argue my case. Explained everything that happened at Tulley GMC and they said they’ll take care of it. 4 days later I got the call to pickup. they said they changed the camera in the third brake light and that resolved it. Back to normal.

They explained, it only took them longer than usual bc I originally told them Tulley only changed the camera in the third brake light and refused to do anything else (saying the image on the mirror was normal). So Greater Lowell was left with figuring out what else was wrong, turns out after following a troubleshooting flowchart of camera issues and changing/testing everything else of the system, the only thing they didn’t change was the camera I told them Tulley had already did. Turns out that was the culprit. Camera in third brake light malfunctioned. Once they installed a new one, it was perfect image.

the kicker: they did a search of all the work done on my truck and did not see them (Tulley) replacing my camera. They said they found a work order with a camera install, but the part number was not for the camera in the third brake light.

next step is to deal with the service dept at Tulley.

Before and after pics below for reference for one else having the issue:

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
