Same 👆 It says they don't have the parts to fix it, so they'll send another letter when they get enough parts.

So my next ? is what parts are they waiting on? From my research most all the dealers have the diagnostic tools to do the test. If the motors need replaced letting the owners know would not hurt anything.

When mine was completed, the only thing they did was change the oil to 0W40 Supercar. They didnt even have the oil cap on hand or the insert for that matter. I went back a week later to grab the cap and hand them the old one. The insert I could care less about.

Not sure if others can read this, but they don't say exactly which parts they're waiting on.

Everyone wants a solution right now but they are going to control access to service so as not to over-pressure the parts system and the dealer service depts.  Going to have to wait your turn.

Exactly,  parts and dealerships would be over run if they put the letters out all at once. Just like updates to a computer or phone they come out in blocks of updates everybody doesn't get them at the sametime. I can get an update on my phone and my wife with the same exact phone might get hers a week later.

Boiler plate.  And it all depends on what recall # it is.  If its the one ending in 000, its the one with the picoscope test to pass or fail the engine.  If it passes, only parts needed are the oil and oil cap.  And dealers have those.

The larger reasoning is they are rolling out VINs in phases to have it done as to not flood the dealer network with doing these.  There is also oil supply chain issues for 0w40 Dexos R as it was prior to this, a low volume oil for GM to have supplied (Corvette and Camaro was 97% of the need for it and they don't have anywhere near as many of those as they do trucks).  So GM and Mobil have been trying to produce more and ramp supply.

Friend just called his parts friend at local dealer (small town) and they don't stock any 0W-40.  All their oil comes through a contracted oil distributor who delivers to the dealer.  The vendor is in a different state (Wis).

Except that now there is more than just 0W40 Supercar listed as DexosR licensed. Mobile 1 FS 0W40 is not really in short supply as it's generally stocked everywhere. Granted, it doesnt mention on the bottle its certified but GM's website does list it has a license.

Sure.  But.  GM dealers have many requirements for purchasing things so often times they have to come through GM channels as there is $$$ involved (on the back end) from GM and franchise compliancy as well to be in "good standing".

So far GM hasn't told dealers that M1 0w40 is an acceptable oil that I have seen, even though it was added to the list.  But it most likely still would have to come through the GM oil distribution network so it can be invoiced to dealers with a GM part #.  Also, still, 0w40 isn't a strong gas engine weight on shelves, nowhere near as strong to stock as your 0w20s, 5w20s and 5w30s.

Totally understand. I also agree it's not as plentiful as other oils. I would have been happy if we just went back to 5W30 and been done with it as the oil goes.

I thought switching to the 0W40 would help with oil loss a bit. Never lost a great amount, less than half a quart between changes. However, I can already see it dipping from the full line at its only been about 600mi.

I don't see the extended warranty on my list of warranties under the GM Experience website?  Does that update after the recall is done?

Also notice GM expired the lifetime incandescent bulb warranty?  It is a Silverado LTZ, do I have all LED?
