Has anyone found an oil filter socket that goes on a ratchet? None of the Harbor Freight assortment fits the wix up filter I use. Best I've come up with is a strap wrench.

google "oil filter socket"  there are lots of them.

 

Naturally, all the oil filter manufacturers get together each year, to make sure that for any given application, each filter will use a different diameter and/or number of faces, so you need a different socket if you switch brands.  Sometimes even models within a brand.

These have never failed me yet.  The only specialty ones I have are for cartridge filters that use either a hex head low profile socket or a special cup socket:

 

Swivel Oil Filter Wrench 4-1/8" - 4-1/2" - L53250 | Mac Tools

 

 

And for the stubborn ones:

 

Oil Filter Wrench 3-1/8" x 3-7/8" - L63250 | Mac Tools
