Hello all. It's been a little while and I have a question. My truck turned 7 years old back in October and per the owner's manual, the a/c desiccant should be replaced. I got a quote from a dealer and it was $1,000.00 for parts and labor. This is the only service that has not been completed as of yet. Do people feel this is necessary to do? I'll do it if I have to, but I wanted to get some feedback first. Thanks.

At that point, if its something you want to replace, just do the whole condenser.  These condensers this gen of truck are very prone to failure via cracking and leaking.

Its $277 for a condenser (19383805), $133 for the receiver/dryer (22996648).

Alldata shows 2.2 hours book time to R&R the condenser, 4.0 hours to just to the receiver/dryer which has the desiccant in it.  So if you had a shop do it at say $180/hr labor rate, that's $396 labor vs $720, so $673 for parts and labor for a condenser, $853 for just the receiver/dryer.  Plus whatever they will charge for freon for both of those if they do.

I personally would leave it along unless it's giving you issues. But if the A/C is working fine I don't see how it can be affected since it's a closed system. Just my opinion from a guy that has a '17 LTZ.
