Purchased 2026 GMC 2500 HD AT4 on Wednesday, the dealership agreed to install AT4 premium package gooseneck/ 5th wheel hitch (puck) premium package system. Upon arriving home I discovered the B&W 5th wheel is not a puck system, but one where you have to reach underneath the bed to pull the pin to remove the 5th wheel. Thinking about calling my attorney Monday as this is a $90k vehicle. What’s the recourse for this? Heritage GMC Buick Rockwall, TX.

What options were listed on the window sticker? Sounds like they installed an aftermarket fifth wheel setup and not the factory fifth wheel/gooseneck option. Not so easy to install the factory option after the truck is built.

The dealer list of options doesn’t look right. The X31 Off-Road Package isn’t usually listed separately on an AT4HD. I could be wrong.

i would talk to the dealer before calling your lawyer. It’s kind of on you to make sure the truck that you are buying has what you want before plunking down $90k.

You won't be able to have the dealer add the puck system.  Its a factory installed item.

People have added it themselves, but its not a dealer installed thing.  You are asking them for something they can't do/won't be willing to do.

You have to buy the parts yourself, and install it yourself/find a shop willing to do it.

The real recourse?  Live with what you've got, buy the right truck the first time, or install the factory puck setup yourself.  Put the attorney thought in the garbage.

It's all about what's in black and white. If nothing mentions specifically the puck package, then you didnt buy that option regardless of what the dealership verbally said.

When I bought my 26 3500HD,  I figured out what I wanted. I mean what I needed, then everything I wanted .Then I built one online. Let it simmer in my mind for a few days to do more research.

A couple small tweaks and I built another one online and did a search.

The exact truck was sitting at my local dealer 3 blocks away.

Now it's in my driveway.

You gotta do your research and not assume anything.

It looks like you got Gooseneck Hitch Package 2 (#84759852)

I got the Gooseneck/5th Wheel Package on mine. It also says Stamped Bed Holes W/ Caps and 7 pin Trailer Harness.

I haven't looked into it as I don't have a 5th Wheel trailer.

Might want to read the original post again.

OP wanted the factory puck setup as the truck he bought did not come with it.  The dealer added a B&W hitch system instead.

Thanks, I wasn't too sure by looking at the picture to understand what isn't there. It looks like there are 5 holes in the bed.

Is the puck setup the 5th wheel hitch mechanism that attaches to the 5 lugs in the truck bed? All I can see if the ball and the 2 shackle/hook type components.

From what i understood, the larger 5th wheel hitch unit drops into the 5 holes and locks in. I am curious since I have the 5 holes and could move to a 5th wheel in the future.

And by the way the AT4 premium package has nothing to do with the 5th wheel prep package. I might be wrong, but I didn't think the AT4 premium package was a dealer installed item.
