I cannot find anything definitively online.  My 2024 1500 Denali just quit reverse.  Just sits like it's in neutral.  No nothing.

1.  How do i find out if there's a recall or not?

2.  Are parts available?  Is anyone actually getting their trucks worked on or is it just a software upgrade.  I've read the valve body is what needs replaced but some are getting just the reflash

3.  Has this updated valve body made it to the 2026 models?  Or is this still an issue even with the new trucks out on the lots?

Thanks

got it, thanks.

Only drove 5 miles today wanted to run to Home Depot figured I could do it, even without reverse...  got a little ways away from home and it was acting weird, hunting for gears, then acted like it went to neutral and "check engine" light came on and it said "low acceleration mode"...  limped it home.

Does anyone know if this transmission issue has been corrected on the 2026 models?  I'm half inclined to just trade up and get a new truck rather than mess around with this repair.

There is no 10 speed trans recalI.

About a year and half ago when I was shopping for a used truck I'd read a lot about the 10 speed trans problems. I ended up buying a used '23 with 20K miles on it. My logic being that, after 4 or so years, surely they'd have solved the issues. Nope, mine failed the day after I bought it.

It does seem logical that the revised valve body would have made its way into the '26's by now, just not sure I'd bet on it.

FWIW, mine has been fine after the VB replacement. But I've only put about 7K miles on it since.

so your 23 truck with 20k miles - was that VB replacement done under warranty/no cost to you?  How long did it take?  were the parts available?  Did you get a loaner car?

Thanks.  This has me seriously stressed out.  I use my truck all the time for work driving around to construction sites.  Not having a vehicle is got me worried

Yes, done completely under warranty, zero cost to me. The power train warranty is 5 years/60K miles, whichever comes first.

Unfortunately, it took over a month for mine to get fixed due to a shortage of valve bodies. But that was about 16 months ago, I suspect the shortage has probably been resolved. Mostly. The actual time to replace the VB is only a few hours.

I didn't need a rental as I still had my car.

Have had 4 valve bodies on my 21 AT4. Last one an upgraded version. Had not had problem since but sold truck. It just did not feel the same. Wanted a 2026 but very worried of a repeat. Loved truck otherwise.

Dealer made me pay for rental 2 out of 4 times. About 1500 bucks total. Contacted GMC. They said it’s a dealer decision.

did your truck have transmission issues each of those times that required the valve body?

How long ago did you get the upgraded version?

was it a fairly quick fix each time they replaced the valve body?

I was thinking about a 26 model also but can't find anything definitive on what was replaced

I read a few months ago that GM had a limited recall on some Diesel 10 speeds (10L1000?), how are the Gas 10 speed (10L80-90) Valve Bodies faring?

Mike, I'd have to guess that whatever changes GM has made to the revised valve body have also been incorporated into the regular production transmissions. But I also thought after 4 years in production they'd have ironed out the bugs (that I did read about) when I decided my 2023 would be a safe bet, and that didn't work out so great, so what do I know.

I can't find the long thread here regarding the 10 speed trans valve body so I assume things have settled down.

I did a long internet search after my trans acted up... trying to find anything anywhere in a news brief or bulletin saying that valve body had been updated....  I can't find anything.  Honestly it still seems to be an issue also

There was a long thread discussing the VB failures, and some folks posted different part numbers of the 10 speed valve bodies, which does suggest the VB's have been revised, perhaps several times.

But unless you can get someone from GM to confirm, I can't think of any outside source that can say, definitively, that the root cause of the VB failures have been identified, all new VB's have the necessary fixes, and that those VB's are the only ones now used since MM/DD/YYYY to replaced failed VB's and all new transmissions are built with those VB's.

I'm sure there are VB's still failing - there are a lot of the 10 speeds out there, but I think the odds are pretty good that a 2026 will have the revised VB. And FWIW, my son in law has a 10 speed truck with probably 70k-80k miles on it and has never had a problem with the transmission.

mine failed randomly at 58k with no warning signs....

Dealer I took it too has not even pulled it in the bay yet and my service appointment was several days ago.  I'm only dealing with GM Customer service on the matter now as the local dealer seems to be incompetent or indifferent
