Love my new 2026 truck - even as a basic WT it's comfy, rides nicely, etc.
Encouraged by the 100K powertrain warranty.
2nd GM I've ever owned (1st was a 2000SLE with Vortec V6 - loved that truck.)

Small question - maybe I'm missing it in the manual? - but I seem to need to press the unlock button first,

in order to open driver's door.  (Don't care as much about passenger door.)

RKIs: is there any mod/setting change, etc such that when I merely pull the door handle it just unlocks + opens?

I have minor concerns about ability to exit regardless of electrical performance. (I'm a bit limited agility

w/osteoporosis from hyperparathyroidism - big guy, age 62, range of movement etc issues.)

Thanks,
Bill

No.

That would be an LT and higher trim.  Passive entry.  There would be a little button on the door handle and you can program it to proximity lock or unlock.

WT and Custom do not get this feature.

Newdude,
So what happens with a low power condition, battery or wiring failure?  I am locked inside my truck?
[Can I just pull the button near the rear up?  Looks small and hard to grasp.]

Thanks

Just pull the inside door handle.  It has mechanical override to the lock.

Actually.  Wait.

I just re-read your original post.  Are you talking from INSIDE the truck you have to hit unlock?  Or from the key fob?  I had assumed from the key fob.

IF you are talking the inside unlock button, I assume you are shifting to park and its not unlocking the doors?  If so, that is changed via the settings page in the radio.  Go to SETTINGS, then VEHICLE and then it should be under LOCKS or DOOR LOCKS or something like that.
