Thanks

It is a tuner box about 4" wide x 8" long x 1" thick, on the fullsize vehicles it is behind the glove box, but I don't know where it is on the Envoy's, sorry

Here is a service manual pic of it:

BBSilverado (and steve and jimmie)--- I can't thank all of you enough for help with all of the diagrams and such. One question... with the speed compensation mic, you say to add it to terminal B1 on the 24-pin amp connector. I assume the voltage (+) side of the mic attaches here. Where does the drain/ground (-) of the mic attach??

thanks- ben

I also wanted to add that I love your truck BBSilverado!!! Its something ive always wanted to see GM do...a regular cab LT!! Also, I was curious about why your OnStar controls are on the dash like the 01-02 GM SUV's had them.

The mic (-) can be put on B2 as Linda said or on B7, both will work the same.

Thanks duramaxHD,

My truck didn't start life as a LT, I ordered the truck as a LS because GM wouldn't build me a regular cab LT. I have since taken most of the interior out of a wrecked 03 LT extended cab. I added Onstar to my truck from the same wrecked truck but the mirror with the onstar controls was broken so I took the dash switch from an 02 Tahoe and rewired it the wires that should have went up to the mirror. The mirror with the onstar controls was way to expensive to buy just to get the proper looking setup. There is still more things I need to do to make it like a true LT, but I'm working on them. One thing is the automatic controls for the HVAC, I have most of the stuff to do it but it is turning out to be a wiring nightmare and I'm not sure if the BCM is going to cooperate with me on this.

Could you make a tutorial that walks people thru the conversion? List parts needed…. Then you could have a sticky post so everyone could view. I personal want to start but I am unsure of everything I need.

Were would you put a CD changer in a 2004 Envoy XUV?

Thanks

Witch conversion do you want to do?

non-lux nav install (easiest)

non-lux nav install with CDX

lux nav install with lux amp swap (alot harder on the Envoys)

do you currently have a slave device (I.E. XM, Onstar, RSA, or RSE)

There is no place to mount the factory style indash CDX on the Envoy and Trailblazer, you would have to make a custom install somewhere (console, glove box, etc.) or use a cartridge style changer and mount it under the seat or in the back

Hmmm... how much harder? I knew by looking at the schematics of my 04, that the pinouts posted here didn't seem to match with what it seems my Envoy has. I have the Bose Lux Amp #15177435 that I will be using to replace the crappola amp as soon as the dealer get's me the correct HU (INR or TNR).

I already have the Non Lux Nav installed and believe the VSS is hooked up since the HU has Speed Compensated Voulme. Care to give me any insight on what other problems I might run into? Depending on if everthing works correctly, I will be pulling the Bose Lux Amp #15177435 and replacing with for the one specified for my VIN (Class2 AMP W/DSP) #15112641.

Thanks!

How is it that you have a non-lux nav and a lux amp (15112641) working together?

If your Envoy came with a Nav HU then you do allready have the VSS there.

The speed compensated volume will work without the VSS wire, The SCV works off of the databus signal and not the VSS. The VSS makes the vehicle tracking on the nav display smoother, without it the vehicle pointer will move in small "jerky" steps.

GM did some different things with the amps on the Envoy's in 04, I will look further into it and let you know what I can find out.

Don't have the Lux AMP installed yet. I have the Non-LUX Nav and crappola amp in there for almost the last year. The class 2 AMP xxx641 was the part number given to me, using my VIN at a dealership parts department. Seems there are 4 amps they could be in my vehicle, but only the class 2 with the DSP is the Lux version. The Regional Service Manager has asked the dealer to get me the replacement head unit so I could get the class 2 setup back in there. Wish they would just pull the vehicle back into the shop and replace the entire wiring harness, the way it was supposed to be when I ordered it.

I have an 044 amp that I could not get to work. It went dead after reprogram. I'm not sure whether it can be revived. I'll send it to you and if it works send me $100

I have not heard yet of anyone successfully programming their AMP in a PICKUP TRUCK platform, they always die....dont no why exactly, but the same thing happened to me originaly. They can be programmed in an avalanche for sure because it matches the caddy ext. Im sure there are others, but not the pickup in my experience.

I've got an '04 Denali Nav (Part 15204335) that the dealer recently replaced. I drove it home and the unit would restart suddenly, so I took it back and the dealer said they had found a short in the antenna wire. Now, after STILL noticing some quirks (with memory settings and the map not retaining settings), I removed the dash and unit myself to find the green plug (I assume the GPS antenna harness) had been jerry-rigged and the wire sloppily installed. The wire just slid right out of the harness. Can I easily replace this back to factory condition? Apparently there is a tiny metal prong that slides into the female (wire from the car) end. Is there a part number for a new harness?

I recently pruchased a 6 disc changer off e-bay p#15122617 and want to install it in my 2005 Yukon XL with the Nav and DVD. Does anyone know the part# for the wire harness and what are the connections I need to make. Most importanly, will it work?

Thanks,

Newbie here, but I have read this entire (and d**n impressive) thread. Does anyone know if P/N 15120706 is a lux or non-lux TNR HU? Can't find any reference to it here or at gmpartsdirect.

Thanks.

The non-lux have"non-lux" printed under the part number.

the only TNR's that I have seen are:

10377287 non-lux

10377531 lux

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
