I Finally got my Nav in and it works great.Much thanks to all you out there for your help. I now want to add the RSE to the Nav and 6 disc changer I have the new Headliner and harness but it looks like I will have to splice the harness in much like the 6 disk changer.Does any body have the wire code on this. I have six wires. Two Black/ White stripe, one Brown/white stripe, one orange, one dark green/ white stripe and one Lt Green/ Black stripe.

Thanks

6 Wires :

1. + voltage

2. - voltage

3. + right audio

4. + left audio

5. - common audio

6. Data Class II wire

Those are the wires in the harness, unfortunately i cannot tell you what colors represent them...although if you figure out which wire is the class II wire you can figure the others out by process of elimination. The placement in the 12 way harness on the back of the radio should be the same as that of 6 cd changer, but i dont know that for sure.

BBSilverado--- Does the rendevouz INR actually use a Bose amp or does it just use the standard amp behind the glovebox? Did you have to add tweeters to your A-pillars and does it use the sub in the center console that you added? BTW, i I like what you have done with your truck! did you use the 10-way adjustable LT seats, or the 6-ways of the LS? Was it that hard to add OnStar to the truck?? (i think if remember correctly you did infact add it...in the pictures you posted a while back) If you were  to add the automatic climate control (the unit thats  in LT's) unit, would it be a simple plug and play mod?? It's really too bad that GM does not make an LT regular cab truck because I probably would have bought one! (dont really like the extended cabs and i wanted an LT truck so i ended up buying a crew cab...) but anyway...great job with the whole thing!

The rendevouz headunit has the amp built into the headunit, there was no other external amp. I did change the front speakers to the Bose ones and added the tweeters to the door above the stock ones, I changed the rear speakers to a pair of JL Audio ones because there was no Bose speakers in that size for the reg. cab, I didn't put the tweeters in the pillars yet ( I'm thinking on using some aftermarket ones and putting them up in the headliner) and I didn't use the sub in the console because I added an aftermarket amp and put two subs behind the seats. I did use the seats from a LT and for now all I have working is the power features, I didn't get around to connecting the memory switches yet. I still need to get the harness for that, I got the switces, memory module and the door panels for them. The seats where rather easy to do because the wiring was there for the drivers side but not for the passenger. Since they are in a reg. cab now it is a little harder to access the back because these do not fold forward like the stock ones did.

I had worked on the auto climate control for a little while and found that it is in no way a plug and plug swap. The wiring harness is completly different, the blower fan is different, and I need to add about 8 different sensors, then I'm not sure if the BCM will accept this upgrade. I don't want to say that I gave up on it yet but for now it is on hold till I can do some more research and get to the local boneyard again (they changed to the winter hours and I can't get there during them)

As far as the Onstar goes that wasn't to bad of a job for me, I got the hardware out of a wrecked truck and installed it in mine, the hard part was for the GM tech to get it to function. I'm not sure what all he had to do but I know he had some problems getting my truck to recognize it since my VIN says the truck didn't come with it. If I wouldn't have got it for next to nothing I would not have even tried putting it in.

I would have loved to have been able to buy a regular cab LT and I'm sure many others would too. I don't understand why GM doesn't build one, all the Lt goodies fit and work in a reg. cab just the same as the extended and crew cabs. But anyway I'll make my own LT.

This is just a rumor so far but I heard that GM is going to build a Regular cab SS for the 06 or 07 model year, I can't wait to see it.

The orange wire should be the data bus wire.

Check it first with a volt meter, if it reads around 5 volts it is the data bus wire and if it reads 12volts then you know it is the 12volt positive feed.

ebay auctionHey, I'm new here and I have read all 16 pages of this marathon post. I have a 2004 Silvy with bose and I am going to get setup on the "NON-LUX" TSR. I called specmo. and they gave me part #10377287 as the NON-LUX. Can someone verify this... This ebay auction is for that part# but it doesn't say non-lux under it. Specmo tells me that is the right part number though. Also they are quoting $1600 does anyone know where to get the NON-LUX cheaper?

I can tell you that Sperry spent about 1000 man hours reasearching and programming that intense Linix code to integrate with the proprietary GM NAV radio code so at exactly 0.028 seconds into the first sequence sent by the PCM and BCM via the data bus wire, the downsampled JPG photo of the Chevy bowtie appears on the NAV screen. It is genius....at least thats the story he gives.

Mine just reads my truck VIN number at start-up, and determines that its in a CHEVY vehicle.

2004chevydrew- yes, 7287 is a valid NON-lux TNR. 1600 is about what you are going to pay NEW. Of course as you found on ebay, they can be had SLIGHTLY used for much cheaper. I beelive 1600 is the price gmpartsdirect quotes too... But for that same price you could alternatively buy a slightly used LUX TNR and used LUX amp...for the same price you get an *almost* new TNR, and MUCH MUCH better sound as well as several different DSP modes. In many peoples oppinions it is very worth it to do the easy amp swap (although keep in mind it not QUITE plug and play...a couple pins need to be changed)...also do not be fooled by any other ebay auctions that claim "this unit has compatibility with ALL large GM suv's/trucks".....there is no such unit that works with both the premium Bose and luxury Bose!!! I have only seen ONE ebay auction where the guy gives it to you straight and says "this unit ONLY works with the......Bose system". '7287 is a NON-LUX and '7531 is a LUX unit... I have to credit all of that info to Sperry...he was one of the ones that started the "revolution"!!!

correct...Delco does not print non-lux or lux on the TNR's anymore. I think the only nav HU that actually said "non-lux" on it was an old INR that was made specifically for the 2004 model year H2 (remember mid way through the 2004 MY, the H2's switched to the 'premium' Bose amp (non-lux)). The TNR wasnt out yet at that time so Delco had to make an odd-ball INR that worked with the crap amp in the H2's. I think the part number ended in '8519 or something like that. Because GM feels the need to have identical parts with different part numbers, you will find many different TNR part numbers, even tho '7287 and '7531 were the original non-lux and lux models, respectivly. '0099 and 15118439 are other [identical to 7531] lux units. 10397545 and 15120706 are other [identical to '7827] non-lux units. hope that provides you with some help!

I just installed the TNR and six disc changer upgrade into my 2004 suburban, the wiring changes posted here worked perfectly for both the amp and cd changer.

I would just like to give one helpful hint to anyone planning this. Make sure you remove all of the wires that show not used, specifically the B11 pink wire. If it is left in there will be no sound and the amp is putting full battery voltage onto the data bus, which is not a good thing. Everything else is simple and straight forward. and a great upgrade.

Thanks for the great posts here.

Hello All,

I just joined the site - great to find this place! It is amazing how much info you guys have provided in this post. It is very much appreciated. I was wondering if I can install nav in my 2001 burb? I am trained in electronics, and based on all I've read in this post, the only possible showstopper I see would be if the 03's and up have a newer data bus that the HU requires. I am already aware of the changes in the dash panels and trim, and console starting in 03. Just hoping you don't say "no way"...

Oh yeah, and the only thing I couldn't figure out is what you mean by INR and TNR, and what the difference is.

Thanks!

Just got my 6-disc changer in the mail from JPCustoms. I looked on ebay but most of either too used or too close in price to the JPCustoms unit to forego the warranty.

I want to do the wiring ASAP and test the unit...but won't be able to mount it for a little while. Obviously there's no danger in just doing the wiring...but will hooking the unit up to test it and then running without it cause the anti-theft crap or programming to get upset?

Also...JPCustoms' directions are running wire 8 to the HVAC unit in the name of "instrument panel lamps". Is this necessary? The diagram in this thread shows wire 8 (gray) going nowhere...are you all running your cd players dark or is this just not required?

Thanks!

Is the lux amp that much better than the regular amp?

I'm thinking one could add an aftermarket amp for the same price with better results?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

As I understand it, an mid-to-high-end aftermarket setup will certainly yield better results than anything made by Bose. But you'd need to keep your stock Bose amp so the and buy the Bose line-out connectors from PAC and then replace every Bose speaker (and the sub) in the truck as well. I believe this is possible, though I'm not familiar with anyone having done it
