Mirror Swap?

Hello all:

Have yet another dilema, got the color figured out (white) now have another question. Trying to locate a truck on a dealer's lot within 250-300 miles from my dealer's lot. Have done so but they all have the big camper mirrors on them, the ones that extend in and out. Asked my sales guy today was it possible to install standard mirrors on a truck that has the big camper style mirrors. After much stink over the question we went to the parts counter for a print out of the exploded assembly view of each mirror option. From that it appears the only difference as far as bolting the mirrors on is the gasket. My question is does anyone know what the difference is (if any) there are for the interior mirror controls between the two in question? If everything will swap out and work then I know where to find the truck (s). Just pushing to do all this before the 31st of this month because the big $3250 incentive expires then. I also have access to a "GM In The Driveway Certificate" as well which would allow me a huge discount and that expires the 31st as well. Dealer and I figured out we could get a $39,450 stickered truck for around $28,000 after ther certificate, $3250 incentive and my $2000 in GM Card earnings and whatever other dealing they want to do. Soooooooo, any help on the subject of swapping mirrors would be awesome.

Hello

Thanks for the replies but the big power extend mirrors will be sold private or their going on E-Bay. They are very expensive, $485 a piece from dealer from what I understand. If you're looking for these mirrors, checkout Street Inspired Kustoms that is where I am getting my power fold mirrors.

Congratulations on the new ride. I just picked mine up as well an got all of the incentives and the 'GM in the Driveway' supplier discount. Awesome savings. Awesome truck.

With regards to the mirrors - Mine came with a camper mirrors as well (DPF) and I would like to swap for the 'stock' heated/dimming/signal mirrors (DL3). Specifically, I really like the 'tilt-to-curb' on Reverse feature. I have been reserching the mirror swap for a while, and here's what I have found so far:

- The physical swap is pretty straight forward; unbolt/bolt, unplug/plug, and swap the gasket at the most

- The controls inside the truck are generic. However, the computer will need to know what mirrors are installed to control them properly

- The computer can be 'flashed' with the new mirror code to provide the correct signals to control the mirrors ('flashing' occurs at the dealer....?)

Here's another message thread to check out. It has some supplier information as well (however the supplier site indicates that the supply has dried up....)

I am going to install bigger wheels and tires, and will have the torsion bars tweeked to level out the stance. Hopefully I will have the stock mirrors installed by then since the dealer offers to adjust the torsion bars and program the speed sensor to suit the new wheels. My guess is that the dealer can 'flash' the mirror code at the same time, then I won't have to pay for their services twice.

My brother purchased a pair of the manual telescoping mirrors for his 2000 K2500. The stock mirrors are the small power units. I'm not sure how long it takes for the swap/ He just uses them when he's towing his 5th wheel Cougar.
