rhino problem

ok so I bought an access cover and then said why not the tailgate lock which I installed today. Problem is that the guy who put my liner on sprayed over the bolts and I had to cut around the bottom bolt. Does someone know of a cheap fix to cover the bolt back? I thought of spray paint but I wanted something else if possible. The guy at the Rhino place, who installed my liner, said that he'd have to do the tailgate all over again..........I'm mad as hell now.

It depends on how big the cut out is. You could fill it in with black silicone or melt some of that driveway sealer that comes on a roll into it. The sealer gets kind of hot & could melt the Rhino material that it touches. It's also going to make it hard to get to that bolt again in the future.You could also cut a piece of rubber to fit the hole and glue it in with black silicone or weather strip adhesive. I don't know if the uncured Rhino material sticks to cured material but you could ask him if he'll let you come by when he is spraying another job & trowel some wet material into the hole. Good luck

You could look for one of those do-it-yourself kits and touch up the area by hand.

you can pick up a can of the spray on bedliner stuff at an auto parts store for about 6 bucks. I would tape off the finished stuff and just spray the bolts with it since the colors probably won't be a perfect match.

Tape off the outside area of the hole that still has the liner on it. Then spray the area you cut-out with a bit of the rubberized undercoating. You can pick the stuff up at an auto parts store. It may take a few applications to build up the right height.

Rhino has to do the whole tailgate???? How do they honor their warranty on chips and such? Were you asked up front if you wanted bolts, brackets, drain holes covered over?

Just seems a little weird...they are similar products, my Line-X dealer said there was no problems fixing chip outs and such, it'll look like a repair if you look was done since there is no easy way to perfectly blend the repair with the existing surface.

After I read your post, I checked out the tailgate latch bolts on my Line-X liner and they were not covered with any liner material. I would say your installer screwed up by not taking those bolts out prior to the spray on installation. You may want to see if the installer will make the repair for you. Good luck.

Yeah, whoever installed my Line-X did it right and took out the bolts. The guy that did my dad's and my brother's truck also took out the bolts in the tailgate, and even sprayed the access panel seperately on my dad's truck. Guy asked my brother if he wanted the holes for the tailgate part of a plastic liner filled, and asked if he wanted the tie-downs sprayed or left as-is and drains open (duh?).

Not to flame the OP, but I think this is proof that you need to do a little HW when looking for a place to spray your truck. Hey, he's leading by example. If you find a good installer, this type of thing won't happen and the liner will last forever. If you don't find a good one, this may happen and your liner may start peeling after a few years.

Yeah, whoever installed my Line-X did it right and took out the bolts.

I'm not knocking any of the competing brands, but when I had my Line-X sprayed in my truck, they didn't even ask about removing the bolts, they just did. When I asked about it, I was informed that it was standard practice. As in, what if you have to do maintenance on these parts...

Also, when I gouged a hole in the liner on my tail gate by moving a 500lbs steel box with a jagged corner out of my truck, I took it back to the Line-X dealer to have it repaired. I just dropped the tailgate off and when I returned it was fixed. No questions asked. After a month or so in the weather you can not tell it was ever patched!

There are some nicks and scratches in my bed liner from normal wear and tear, but nothing else that has gone through the liner. It was not asked, but I give the Line-X system and customer support a
