interior lights

My 1996 trucks interior lights only work by rolling the switch. They don't work when opening the doors. I've checked the switch, don't know what else to try. I have been told that the dealer can control weather the lights work by doors or by switch. Bought truck used lights have never worked by door switch. Previous owner bought used as well didn't know any history on truck other than it was used as a work truck.

There is no BCM in your truck. Didnt come in the GMT400 at all started with the GMT800. Better check the wireing to the door switches and depending on trim level the interior light timer.

There's a little round button on my '95 just under the headlight switch that turns my dome lights OFF...dont know if yours is the same,just thought I'd throw that out
