Last time I looked you still needed a phone line for uploading so that was slow. They did have high speed bidirectional but it was pretty pricey. I'm on cable and it offers the most bang for the buck. It is like $10 more than DSL and twice the speed.

Congrats man I know how it is. I went through 7 years of dial up (3 of those using 14.4kbps) Now I have had DSL for about 3 years.

I'm in the country. I use Starband which is $70 a month. No phone line needed as it is 2 way. Downloads are fast but uploads are just a little faster than dial up.

cable is starting the hit 24.95-$30 every few months now during specials. so it seems price is lowering about 5 bucks every year and a half. I bet it will level off around $25 acorss the country by 2007, is my guess.

So I can wait a bit longer, with my new job I'm not on nearly as much!

They have those 6mo specials here too but only for new subscribers so you would have to stop it for a month and they re-join. I managed to get $5 off mine by switching to a different cable TV package but that is the only time mine has ever gone down.

 Good to hear about the DSL. I am back to Dial-up, but the benefit of me doing so far outweights the speed. We just built a house in the country, no high speed, but the benefit of being out of the burbs is awesome :D . Still I hate dialup :D , only wish satellite was less expensive.

Well you can say I'm in the country even though it is a 500 population town. It takes me 24 minutes to get to work on 4 lane road. My neighbor is so cool that when we moved in I needed some land on his side so I could build our garage. He owns a lot between him and us. I figured 12 extra feet would be great, go to ask how much he would want, he just say's welcome to the neighbor hood it's yours. Doesn't get any better than that. Wish there were more people in the world like them. Totaly cool neighbors. :D
