My alt. just quit on me so I purchased a new one. The stock one is 102 amp and I upgraded to a 130 amp. The problem is that now the belt will not fit? it is too small. Does anyone know what size the new belt would need to be?

Mike :D:crazy:

Can you pull the pulley off of the old one and put it on the new one?

He could try that, but if I remember correctly the case on the 130A is a little larger,

not much, but just enough to give 'em a headache :D

Yeh, it was just too small, barely. I took my wife's car in today and picked up a new one at a local parts store. They did not have a part number so i had him bring a few to the counter untill I found one i thaught would fit.

Got home and put it on, all ok. I wish I could get the GM part # though. For future referance or future owner. :D:D

Just remeber the size of the belt you bought (part no.). Most mfrs use the actual size for their part number so if you know one part no. you can get any other.

Example: Yours should be a 930K6, or something like that. That means the belt is 930cm long (straightened) with 6 ribs wide. The belt for the old 105 amp alternator is a 922K6, which is 8cm shorter than the one you're now using, which is just enough to not allow it to fit. Pretty easy to remember that way, eh?

That is good info, thanks. I kept the new belt part # and wrote it in the owners manual for me and or a future owner.

Now it's time to install an amp for my new Infinity speakers and give this Alt. a workout! :D:D:crazy:
