seen the price for transfer flow tanks :fume:. i want a new tank under the frame not one that fits in the bed. i cant see how tanks cost so much. anyway, i was wondering of i go to a local junk yard and find a one ton truck or even a longbed truck, if the tank will fit? i understand the sending unit may have to be swapped also. i was wondering also, if the computer carries codes to change tanks size. any GM tech here or other member that has done this? a 26 gal tank is 43 inches long. anyone with a longbed care to check their 34 gal tank length for me?

i did some measurments of my truck and went to my local dealer and measured the tank of a long bed. it wont fit, too long. transferflow and other tank dealers have made their tanks with more depth. thier tanks are closer to the ground and maybe only a few inches longer.

Also my only gripe with this truck is the size of the tank, tranfer flow has a tank that fits where the spare is for the Dodge and or Fords but not the GM/Chevy's I was thinking about seeing if a "racing" fuel cell would work. Jegs has some, largest was only 22 gals but if you coudl rig some hoses in the 1" to 1-1/2" range so the fuel could balance between the tanks you could put it there and not need an individual fill neck for it. The 22 gallon is pretty small 22"x17" I think.

Well I answered my own question, I checked out the fuel cells and they can't be used as they have a bladder inside and the only access would be through the top.
