Had to put my first set of brakes on my truck. Rotors were not cuttable so I had to get 2 new ones! Holy cow that d**n vech. speed sensor! Made the rotors like 150 something ea. !@#$ But nothing like a nice pedal to stop! :flag: How are the master cyl.'s on these trucks. My mech said I might need a master cyl. sometime soon. He didn't like how the pedal came back up. Let me know if you guys have a good suggestion for a master cyl. Go to GM? Other vendor just as good and cheaper? Is the master Cyl a common thing to go bad on our trucks? Lemme know! thanks!

Price depends on what brand which directly relates to quality of the product. You can buy aftermarket pads too, but they are not as good of quality as the factory. Although if it were me no matter what cost I would have upgraded to the Brembo cross drilled rotors, which are better than factory.

To somewhat answer your question, if you need a master cylinder I would not put anything other than a factory one in there. The brake pedals on the half tons can be pushed to the floor when you are not moving and feel mushy, that is normal. If it feels bad when you are driving then try bleeding them. A mistake many people make is to push the brake fluid in the calipers back into the ABS unit, when collapsing the piston, instead of opening the bleeders and letting the fluid escape from the calipers.

I agree price relates to quality. When I needed new rear pads I went to AutoZone. He had pads for $17 per axel! I wouldnt touch them. Figure out how many people have to make a profit on those pads by the time you buy them and you can guess what they are worth. I disagree about factory pads being better than all aftermarket. Many cars and trucks are coming thru with soft pads so the customer wont complain about brake noise. They wear out quick. Bendix brake components have never failed me.

I AGREE that you get what you pay for, but $135-$150ea...OUCH!

I think you can buy a set of cross-drilled or slotted rotors for that...

Anyhow......I wouldnt condemn the master cylinder just yet, Peter_C is right, the brake calipers should be bled off to open them up. If the fluid is forced back into the master, it sometimes forces sediment through the ABS Control valves and affects braking....I would have the system bled before condemming the master cylinder.....just a thought

Thanks for the replys guys! I should have posted here when I went in to have them done and got those cross rotors! Oh well.. I did watch him do it and he pinched off the line and opened the bleeder to push the piston back in so I'm good there I guess. My mech. said these Chev. trucks were under braked from the start. We bled the crap out of the system and now the pedal feels much better so hopefully I'm good for awhile. :D:thumbs:
