Just purchased 2005 Silverado Z71

After a 2-1/2 years of driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71, (131000 miles) I just took delivery on the Z71 Silverado extended cab.

Biggest issues on the Tahoe were the Piston Slap, vehicle would not start if gas gauge at a 1/4 or under, Speed sensor went out, thus the ABS light came on. But really nothing beyond that.

I have been looking for the past few days for a forum to read and learn from and I think I have found my home.

Welcome! Weather, indeed! We've been under rain and storms for the past three months. You'll love this site. Great information here. Just about any subject you can think of, project, modification can be found. Make friends with the SEARCH engine and have at it.

Welcome, this is a great site, my favorite so far. People are very friendly here and have a lot of experience with GM trucks. Enjoy!

I also had a 2002 Chevy Tahoe but only had the steering shaft clunk problem, no piston slap or other issues. We sold it about a year ago when the wife decided she wanted a smaller vehicle...it was great while it lasted, I loved it...

Welcome aboard. Yes, you'll find plenty of good answers here and can post your questions/problems and get answers you can understand because not everyone is into going crazy with high performance mods(not that there's anything wrong with that, some of us are just simpletons)

budone, just curious, what are you doing that puts so much mileage on so fast?

Was waiting for that question. Up until December 2004 I managed couriers in W. Michiagn AND was a Branch Operations Manager for Indiana. So I had alot of area to cover.

Back in 2002 the company I worked for took away company vehicles from all except exec's and sales personnel, so I decided I wanted a vehicle I was comforatable in.

(they felt we did not drive enough!!!!!)

In addition, I love the back country of the Upper Peninsula of MI also. (I used to manage that also)

Still had 60% on the original brakes when I got rid of the Tahoe. But was having many problems occur that would be costly. It was immaculate outside and in.....

Welcome! Did you ever find out what was up with that fuel guage/no start thing? that is real bizzare :withstupid:

I never did, I did take it in, when they suspected fuel pump, or the fuel takeup had 'shifted', I just decided to keep the tank filled to a point it would not be an issue.
