SnakeEyeSS Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 on my camaro there is NO WHERE easy to add oil......it's got the GM performance Parts high rise valve crinkle finish covers.........and guess what, the only way to add oil is through the PCV port, which is conviently blocked by a metal shield so the PCV dosen't get drenched in oil so you have to add oil there anyway, and WAIT........and WAIT......for it to work it's way into the head.......and with my 7 quart extra capacity oil pan, it took around 20-30 minutes oh and the dipstick is about 5MM wide, after a half quart it stopped filling, so the PCV port was faster and to make it even better, my dipstick isn't correct for the pan, right now it reads 2 inches over full......
mcreyaufmiller Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 Dude, you have to make your own hole for a filler cap. They way you can out it where you want it.
SnakeEyeSS Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 I don't drive it enough to do that. if that's ture, you think the engine builder would have done that.....of course he probably added oil before teh valve covers wnet on.......Maybe I'll just buy a set of gaskets and do it that way, one set will last 2 changes(if I only pull off one cover er chnage, of course)......6-12 months, or more.
mcreyaufmiller Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 I am not sure if that is the case on your covers, I have run across covers that I have had to bore a hole and attach the oil fill thingie. On the other hand, the motor looks cool without the extra thingie sticking up from the valve covers!!

Wingnut Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 I hate to break it to you, but it's not GMPP. I've never seen a set of "performance" valve covers (that's an oxymoron in and of itself) that came with a filler hole. They're (for the most part) a "drill your own hole" product. BTW, I've seen quite a few. They do that because in performance applications, folks have all sorts of crap bolted to their engines and surrounding components and need the hole somewhere other than stock.
