Shaners Posted March 3, 2001 Posted March 3, 2001 I was walking through walmart today and saw GE Bluetint Halogen replacement bulbs on sale (rollback!!!). They were only ?.97 for a pair of low beam bulbs so I thought what the H3LL... and bought them!!! They are 1000 Lumens and 60 watt bulbs. I installed them tonight and I'll try them out in the next few days and let you guys know what I think of them. On a side note, I think the headlight lenses on the new Silverados are pretty cool as far as removal goes. All you have to do is pull 2 6" pins and the lens comes right out. The headlight bucket remains undisturbed so there is no fear of screwing up your headlight allignment. (although I think mine was bad from the factory).
MountaineerTom Posted March 4, 2001 Posted March 4, 2001 What are the watts and lumens for the factory low beams? I was thinking they were 50 watts but I don't know for sure.
Shaners Posted March 4, 2001 Author Posted March 4, 2001 Tom I don't know what the factory lights are rated at but I did drive my truck tonight and checked it out. For ?.97 at Walmart the bulbs were probably worth it... They didn't throw the light any farther (but why should they??? I put them back where the stock bulbs came from and didn't touch the adjustment screws). The road actually seemed a little clearer in front of me and I definatly could tell a difference in the color of light thrown on the road when I compared mine to the car in front. Maybe that was from the extra watts... I don't know. I think if I crank the adjusment screws up a turn then I would notice a big difference. I don't know if my truck has the "blue light" appearance to the oncoming traffic for obvious reasons... but I can notice a light tint on the garage door when I shine the low beams against it.
