Looking to modify my 95 sierra

I have a 2wd reg cab 1995 gmc sierra that has the TBI 305 and the 5 spd. I was wanting to know what kind of power that tranny will hold up to. I was also wondering what kind of options I have for an engine swap. I currently have an LT1 motor in the garage and i can either put it in my truck or in my transam.

The 5-speed should be good for up to 400hp, but I would drop the LT1 into the TA.
