Hi again,

I had my truck into the dealer to fix some electrical problems. I posted on anothe thread about my battery going dead and even brought the instructions given on this forum to the dealer to "suggest" he try to locate the problem using these methods.

I got my truck back after 2 1/2 days to find out that my dead battery problem is FUNCTIONING PER SPEC! I think he's goung to hear from me again on this one when (not if) it happens again. I don't have alot of faith right now..I told him he could tow it in the next time it leaves me stranded!!

Anyway onto the topic, I also had a problem that I thought might be separate yet contributing but again was told it was FUNCTIONING PER SPEC!

The ride control button / indicator stays on after the key is turned off. I can turn it off and on whilr the key is in any position. I have no Idea how much current this accessory draws but nontheless the only accessory that should function with the key off should be lighting. I have no need to have ride control when the vehivle is parked!

If you havn't guessed by now I'm a little agitated with my dealer and it shows with the !!!!'s I've had it in twice now with the same answers given twice. What do you guys think / suggest

Sorry for the long post

Thanks, Eric

I'd suggest a meeting with the service manager. Be pleasant, polite, but express your concerns. I'd want to know what SPEC it is FUNCTIONING PER.

What does that mean? Did the tech walk out to the lot, the truck started so it's functioning as it should? Or did they do a comprehensive test of the charging/starting system and if so, what EXACTLY are the results. I'd want voltages, charging/starting amps, parasitic load on the battery in milliamps, etc.

The ride control light should not stay on after you've shut off and exited the truck. That's going to create some current drain, though I'm not sure what is happening on your truck to make that stay on. Could be a very minor drain or a major one.

Thanks,

At this Piont my post may have sounded more threatening in attitude than I actually was.

I can only assume that thay have done the tests you mentioned but the service writer has been very vague and seemingly uninterested in closely tracking the actual results that the tech is getting. I think that he feels I should just "believe him" because he is the one orchestrating the repairs.

If they did do what they say the I agree that they could have easily provided alot better answer to the results than: " We went out the next mornig after the truck sat for 18 hours (from 1:00 Pm Wed to 7:00 AM Thurs) and it started. He (the tech) looked at everything and ran a bunch of tests and he didn't find anything wrong, He even drove it all over to try to get it to repeat the broblem but it wouldnt." He then went on to say that the Servic Mgr. was involved in this and that the also contacted the regional rep and he also had no real ides where to look for the problem but did authorize the "replacement of a couple things to see if it might work.. These Itemd did not show up on the warranty report I received as other warranty items did.

As you can see it doesn't seem I have a very involved team so when it does happen again I won't see a writer, I'll see the Service Mgr. and discuss not only the problems but the lack of professional presence at the service drive. After all they are "PROFESSIONAL GRADE". HAHAHA!

I'm glad you are on this board and take the time to listen to this stuff. I only wish you were in my neighborhood so YOU could look at it and fix it.

Thanks again for your concern, Eric

Let me add that they may very well be doing all they can. We get these elusive problems all the time. Not every problem is easily found.
