Headlights on all the time???

I just bought my '01 Z71 and I have noticed that my headlights are on all the time. Even during the day. Is this normal? I thought that the DRL's were supposed to be on during the day, not the headlights.

Well, correct me if I am wrong but I am under the understanding that the DRL's are the lights between the two parking lights.  This is correct, right?

You are correct. The photocell for the headlights is located on top of the dash, in the center, beneath the windshield. If it is obstructed or covered it will read "dark" and activate the headlights. If it is not covered and in the direct sunlight and your headlights are still on, chances are it has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You should be able to to pull it out and read the voltage drop across the input lead and the lead to the headlights during daylight. It should be zero and the voltage across the load resistor to ground should be 12V. Vise versa for a "dark" reading.

You are correct about the Sensor I have wired mine parallel with a switch with a half watt 1.5 K Ohm Resistor. This way I have control over the Automatic Headlights. It is possible that your Dash Sensor is Broken or has simply become unplugged.

If you remove your Dash Trim Ring and Pull out your Radio You'll see where the Sensor is and the wiring that goes to it. It's not a pretty thing to get in or out but, it may shine some light on your situation.

OK, will check tonight to see if it is just unplugged. I am installing an aftermarket stereo anyway.

Got any pictures of your HVAC controls with the LEDs? I like to see what others have done with LED lighting thus far.
