So this week I'm buy'n wither a 1500 4x2 or 2500hd 4x4...........both ext cab 8' bed 2002's.

 

The 1500 is a 5.3, find out info on the 2500hd tomorrow, but in the mean time, those with tunes:

 

your truck/setup?

 

what tune?

 

gas mileage before and after?

 

cost?

 

i'd be after a greater mpg tune myself as really either truck with do me just fine for landscape sidework, i just can get the 2500hd though for about $1500ish more and both have close to 40k miles. thanks!

03, gmc 1500 2wd extended cab short box. before I got the k&N fipk kit and wester's tune I got 20.5 mpg on my way to and from school 240 miles round trip. I'm in the process of finding out what i get now. If your going to be worried about mpg I would suggest you stay away from the 6.0 but others will tell you that.

its more so i can budget a little better knowing what it will cost for fill up with the different engines and setups. i will be doing sidework with teh truck mostly so i expect it to be making money when it moves :o)

If either truck will do fine and your concern is gas milage. (smart concern) than get the 1500 4x2. No reason to haul around all that extra weight. Expect 11 - 14 mpg stock on the HD. I got 12.6 before tune and have evened out at 14.7 with the tune.
