If the early 99-00 5.3 and maybe 4.8's had a T body that opened only at 80% is this the reason for a lower rated engine? Sounds like a good probability to me.

the reason the 4.8 and 5.3 HP numbers increased from 99 to 00 is because they changed the cam (put in the cam from the 6.0)
