Windshield Wipers

Does anyone have a wierd problem with their wipers? When mine are on slow they work fine, when they are on high they work fine and for the most part when I use the mist they usually work fine. When they are on intermittent they will go 3/4 of the way up and stop for a split second then go a little further, then stop for a second, then up a little more and so on. Sometimes it does it on the way back down too. Nothing is catching or hanging up, i think it's something with the wiper motor. Anyone ever have this happen??? On the other hand sometimes they work fine.

Sounds like you need a new wiper motor. The pulse sent by the intermittent wiper control is probably 1/2 second, and from then on, the wiper's "return to home" feature is counted on to complete the swipe.

Return to home depends on clean contact between the electrical "wiper" and its wiped metal surface, where it maintains power to get the wipers back home. This seems to be either worn or corroded on your truck.

95% of GM truck intermittant wiper concerns are caused by the wiper module. The module mounts to the wiper motor and is available by itself. GM calls it a 'wiper cover kit'.

I think if it was a "return to home" problem, then it would affect the operation during normal slow and fast speeds. The wipers wouldn't want to go back to the parked position when he turns them off. He says they work fine then. I don't know what the answer is but that was just a thought I had. :banghead:

LTE... No not yet, but definetely a good idea, cause if gm will fix it for free, why not let them. I have no warrenty (sp?) left so im trying to avoid having them do it. It seems simple enoigh to fdo myself.
