Security

I've owned the truck for 8 months and other than the driveline clunk thing the truck hasn't given me a bit of trouble, until today, On the way into town the security light came on and didn't go out , should I be worried (gut says nope)? Has anyone had any experience with this ? I'll check with the dealer on Monday if the sky doesn't start to fall. :ehh:

According to the owner's manual, the security light staying on may indicate a problem with the PassLock security system.

PassLock is a built-in security system that diables the fuel system if the ignition is tampered with.

YAh I shoulda looked there first...It came on when I was driving so I'm wondering if I should drive it before Monday. Not real keen on being stranded.

I wouldn't worry about being stranded. My Security light comes on all the time. It started a few months ago, but has gradually gotten to be a PITA. Coming on almost regular now. It has never left me stranded anywhere or caused any problems running the truck. The rest of the security system seems to be working fine. My guess is something is just wrong with the Passlock like HillHound said. I'm probably going to the dealer soon with it though, because it's driving me nuts seeing the light on all the time.

For what it's worth. The manual also says that when lights come on, it doesn't mean anything is critically wrong. Often the computer will pick up a glitch that you won't and alert you before it becomes a critical problem. I had that happen on my last vehicle.

I wouldn't sweat waiting a day or so. But I would be a bit worried waiting weeks! ;)
