1979 GMC 7000 info request

I wanted to find out if anyone can give me some suggestions on my 79 GMC Sierra 7000 427 5spd single axle box truck  . For the easy question first, will the standard Chev and GMC pickup doors fit on this truck? The other question I have is how would I add a gear splitter on this truck so I don't kill the wallet on gas and more importantly kill the motor. It has the factory 5 speed transmission and I don't have any experience with the older big trucks to know what would need to be done to make a 2 speed work. Thanks, Allen

the two speed solenoid goes in the rear axle but i doubt you need to have it----a single axle shouldn't be hauling anything super heavy...you will have no problem getting through the gears without split shifting anyways. You have a medium duty truck, you're not likely to burn it up by truckin, and you're just not going to get around the mileage problem because it pours gas into a 4bbl carb and chuggs on down the road. They are pretty tough, but they ain't no Peterbilt~

as to the doors, they look close, but the hinges could be different, i'm have no experience in it being rigged up
