My last tank in my yukon 4x4 was 14. I have 265 75 16 AT tires on it and everything else is stock. 110,000 miles. Gas mileage went down to 13 after I had the intake gasket and water pump replaced. It is starting to come back up but its getting warmer here so the winter fuel mixture should be done with. I had been getting better mileage. seen as high as 19 on the highway and normally averaged about 15.5-16.5. 50/50 city highway.

These gas mileage polls are useless. Everyone drives under different conditions, terrain, city,hi-way, towing, loads, passengers, etc. The only mileage that matters is your own.

It's my wife's Tahoe ('99, 4x4, w/ 3.42's), she gets about 14mpg but she's all city driving with tons of stop-n-go. If she gets out on the Hwy it's 16mpg.

If I get behind the wheel it's 16-17 ......... that pizzes her off :cheers:

I had a '00 K2500HD Classic Ext Cab Long Bed 4x4 w/ 3.73's and a Vortec 350 in Silverado Trim for a work truck once ....... I got 14mpg city, Hwy, Towing, rolling down a hill ..... it didn't matter.

With 3.42 gears, the worst I've ever had was about 14.5mpg, and the best was 19.5mpg

But on most fillups, I average about 15.5 mpg

Just filled my 3rd tank. . . All 3 fills averages 20mpg with about 50/50 hwy/city miles.

1st tank = 22mpg(??)

2nd = 18mpg (lots of break-in driving)

3rd = 20mpg (204 miles with one freeway trip of 90 miles)

I do watch my foot in the city. I am aware that all takeoffs eat gas, hills, speed etc. I do stay up with or pass most of the traffic however I do try to conserve where possible. . .

Biggest surprise so far??

This 4.3 motor. . . In the beginning what a slug. . . then she started to loosen up and is getting to be a pleasure to drive. At 195HP this 6 has more horsepower than most new V8 pickups that I have owned had. Although no drag queen she is no slow poke either. It is kinda irritating running in top gear at 1200rpm at about 50mph. . .Long legs. . .

Long story short I do like this truck V-6 and all. . . Do I like it more than the V-8?? Of course not but for the money it could be worse. . . much worse. . .

She seems to get about 11-12 in town and up to 15 hwy, but the hwy that we tested was a trip from VA to PA and up into the mountains so it may get better when I go home to WI for x-mas.

I cleaned the TB and put in a new air filter and fuel filter, and plan an oil change before going. Then track milage to WI. If I'm not happy with it, I'll drop in new plugs and wires in WI, and check it on the way home.

I tend to average 17mpg. If I stay off the pedal and keep it under 2,000rpm, I can usually creep up on 19hwy.

5.7L, 3.42 in std cab SB

Mods so far are just a Magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler #14468

Future mods call for Thorley headers, high flow cats, better air filter and a hotter ignition.

I like the mileage. Alot better that the old "87 Chevy 4x4 w/5.0 TBI 4spd granny I used to drive in high school.

I've got a stock 1996 extended cab Z71 with ~110,000 miles. I run 275/70R16 Revos on stock rims. I get about 14 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. I voted 14.5 - 15.5 as I usually get around 15 mpg with my combined driving.
