2003 Buying

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place,,, i recently had the oppurtunity to sell my 95 chev 3/4 ton.  The new 2003 gmc sierras ext.cab 1500 are starting to grow on me,,, especially in the new marine blue.  I have a very nice down payment through dilligent saving and cannot order a 2002 gmc exactly the way i want it and lots are already starting to get scarce of 2002's. I would really like to get some type of deal on an 03' like low financing or fact rebates.  However i cannot wait until next year. the most i could wait is 4 or 5 months. could someone tell me how historically gm offers rebates or incentives in the past?? I have my heart on a "marine blue"  sierra.  Any other times of the year that are good to buy??  Any stabs of what rebates may be like with the economy the way it is???   Any help is appreciated

I feel you pain. I was going to buy a 03 HD but cannot stand the looks. I talk to a dealer last week about trading but what they offered me for my truck was an insult. I am going to keep what I have and be happy.  :P

About the rebates I think you will see them go away with the introduction of the new modle year.  :)

Check with your local dealer in the Sept, or Oct. Time frame. They will have early 03 models by then. You can also order a 03 at that time, although I am not sure what the cutoff date is for the model year. I bought my 2000  truck in Oct of 99, so I know this is possible. If you choose to order it can take up to 3 months. Good luck

Ususally there is not great incentive deals for new models.  Seems like better deals are had for overstocks, holdovers or a decline in truck/automobile sales.  Most dealers probably have no clue about upcoming promotions, its up to the General to decide.

I was shown a sheet, today, at the dealer that was for $1,000 incentive/rebate on the 2003 model trucks. My dealer was surprised by it being out so soon.

I think it's officially called Arrival Blue. Here are spy pics thanks to HOOT!

You'll have to cut and paste. I get an error ---You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture....gifhttp?

So......

Edmund's is calling it Marine Blue Metallic. I'll bet it has

the same paint (WA) code as Indigo Blue. They re-named

the green as well to Polo Green Metallic. If anyone has the code for the green I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking new paint is due for my '52 and that's a sharp color.

Have a great one!

I was at the dealer this past weekend looking at the new 2003 silverados.  I wanted to see the new interior and front end.  The salesguy mentioned to me that he was told that GM was going to bring back 0% financing only for the silverados in October or November of this year.

Seems weird, and I'm not sure if he really knows what he is talking about, but I thought I would relay that to you all.

Generous Motors has been advertising 0% apr on for three weeks now on all of its carlines. Bill Ford's complaint was that it cost Ford on the average $2500/vehicle to do this, during a recent interview with CNN. GM probably fairs similarly. What are the car makers going to do when the Dow hits 4500 this fall?

The Agstar site has the colors listed as Marine Blue Metallic GMC and Chevy, and Forest Green Metallic-Chevy and Polo Green-GMC, and a Dark Toreador Red Metallic, is that last one new?

I have seen the new color of blue in person.  gmc is calling it marine blue and chevrolet is calling it arrival blue,,, both are the same color they are a little lighter than indigo blue but not as light as say space blue like on the s-10's

Does anyone know how long to expect the 1000dollar rebate????? i am wanting to order my truck and want the rebate to be there when it arrives.

My GMC dealer showed a sheet with an option of $1,000 off.  Someone else mentioned an option of $1,000 off or o% interest, but I don't know for how many months--for 2003 models.

I am impressed with what some of you have been able to get out of your local dealer.  I live in S.CALIF and I have been making my weekly rounds to a few local GMC dealers and I have not been able to get any 03' information.

Last week I got into an argument with a GMC salesman about 03' financing and rebates.  He was really putting the squeeze to me about not waiting and buying an 02' now, since GMC will not be extending any dealers for the 03 models.  I will not be buying my truck from that guy.  Actually, I probably will not be buying from that dealership becasue of that salesman.

I am guessing that GM will have to bring back the incentives for 03'.  Think about it, the market is just off new lows, consumer confidence and spending are sinking.

When GM started there 02' round of incentives, the market was 10-20% higher (depending on the index) and consumer confidence and spending was strong.

I will be patience and after the first wave of 03's are delivered and sold to those who want an 03' reguarless of price, GM will have little choice but to extend the incentives.

Just my thoughts...

Eric the soon to be 03' 2500HD/CREW/4X4/DMAX owner

P.S. I consider this web site a great resource...
