1993 S-10 4.3 4L60E. Spits fluid out the vent at speeds over 65. Ive changed the wiring harness in the pan including the TCC solonoid, worked fine for 2 weeks and now its back to the same.

Any suggestions?

I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy with the 4l60e tranny. As far as I can tell it shifts fine and never slips. I was on the freeway and discovered a large cloud of smoke behind me. Turns out it was transmission fluid spewing out of the overflow tube onto the exhaust. I would say it dumped a goods 2 quarts. I was not towing, just driving at 70mph for about 20min. I can't get it to spew anything when I am driving in the city or side roads, only when I drive at freeway speeds for about 15min. According to the stick the transmission is not overfilled. I also verified that the fluid is making its way through the radiator with no restrictions. Anybody have any idea as to what would cause this?

If fluid is coming out of the vent and is not overfilled, you have a internal trans problem. Could be overheating or could be a pressure issue, either way the trans has to come out and come apart.

Hey, so after taking my truck into AAMCO Transmissions it was determined that my transmission was slipping when it would shift into overdrive. After a certain amount of time it would cause the transmission to overheat and the fluid would expand and come out the overflow tube... And yes, it had to come out and be rebuilt. But hey, problem is gone and they did a great job with a good warranty program. They were very honest and called me every step of the way to let me know what they had found.
