Spray-on Bedliner differences

Please comment on the differences between Rhino Lining and Line-X. Has anyone had both? They are both a form of polyurethene. Line-X claims to "dry faster" and be tougher, yet Rhino-Lining on my truck has been pretty tough by itself. It looks to me like Rhino has a better developed dealer network and better versatility, but this may be just the better advertising rather than better product.

I compared the 2 when I got mine done and everyone I talked to said that Rhino ripped easier. I talked to a couple of guys that had both and they said Line-X was the way to go. So that is what I did. I love it.

Id have to agree with the 2 previous comments. A friend of mine got his F350 dually Rhino'ed. I didnt like the finish at all. It looked like someone took some shi* and smeared it and let it dry. Every truck that I have seen Line-X'ed looks terriffic. So I chose to go with Line-X and am very happy with it. Line-X costs a little more, but in this case it seems the phrase "You get what you pay for" really comes into play. Guess it all depends on what you'd like the end result to look like. I think Line-X can also use different colors depending on what you prefer. Not sure if Rhino offers that.

I'll talk smack about Line-X every chance I get. My soon to be father in law has a Ford F-150 with a Line-X spray-in bedliner. We were hauling some stuff around and found that the bedliner had peeled up, even though they GUARANTEE that it won't, and if it does they're supposed to fix it (a lifetime warrenty). When we took it in they said it didn't peel, it was scraped off (which is how a peel starts) and that it was our fault and not a defect in the way it was applied. We are of the opinion that it obviously WAS a defect in the way it was applied or it wouldn't have peeled up.

Basically the Line-X lifetime warrenty isn't worth the paper it's written on, and when summer comes and I get a bedliner, it will either be Rhino or Herculiner. At least their warrenties are worth something, even if it does look worse or get damaged easier.

Sorry to hear that. A friend of mine had some of his liner start coming up and took it in and they took care of it right away. Didnt have any problems. I use my truck all the time loading and unloading things and I havent had any peeling problems as of yet...going on 2 years. Guess everyone has their favorite :D

Did he try another linex dealer? It has a nationwide warrany as opposed to the store only Rhino warranty ie, if your dealer closes down, you have no warranty.

The Rhino warranty being "dealer only" is news to me.

I don't know if he tried another place, but they certainly weren't going to honor the warrenty. And if that's the kind of service that I can expect from them, then I'm definately not going with Line-X.

I have a Line-X and love it. It is probably a year old now and have not had one problem. I use my truck to haul stuff on a daily basis and I don't baby the bed of my truck and it has stood up to everything I have put it through.

Line-X and Rhino are definitely two of the best known top-of-the-line spray liners out there. Both are two component (mixed as they are sprayed, with heat and high pressure) and set up seconds after it hits the surface.

I know several guys who have both of these spray on liners. One of the Line-X liners is about 4 years and does show some fading. All of the Rhino liners also show fading. I think most all of the spray liners will be affected by UV rays after time. The Line-X liners definitely have the nicest consistent finish I have seen.

Line-X is a harder material than the Rhino when it sets up, so if you plan on sliding stuff in and out of the bed, the Line-X may scratch the items you slide in. Other spray liners such as the Rhino, Reflex and Speedliner, are softer, and still top quality liners. The Speedliner hardness is in between the Line-X and Rhino, and takes a longer time to cure out when it’s applied.

Which ever one you chose though, make sure the installer does a quality job. One of the Line-X bed-liners was sprayed on at a different dealer and looks like it was thinner because he’s had a couple chips out of it already.

I did a lot of research before I did my bed, and the one I chose was Speedliner. It matches the color of my paint, and looks the same as when I had it sprayed almost two years ago. It’s supposed to be a very strong bed liner (as far as tensile strength), and so far doesn’t have any tears in it. The installer I found did an excellent job.

Line-X and Rhino aren’t the only one’s out there, so look around and do some research before you decide.

First experience with this type of product was with RHINO lining used in the bed a brush fire truck (CK-3500). Product held up well, however application was somewhat uneven / irregular.

I've personally had LINE-X applied on 2 of my own vehicles --- 3/4Ton 2004 Ext Cab and 1/2Ton 2005 Crew Cab. I'm very happy with the LINE-X product. Takes alot of abuse, and has never cut / worn.

Would highly recommend LINE-X. Would also suggest you go over the be rails, and ensure they cover the portion below the tailgate / above the bumper (if you plan to carry stone / mulch).

Good luck!

I have Rhino in my truck and like it better than the Line-X because it is more "rubbery" and because of this, things do not slide around in the bed of the truck. I would agree that the line-X seems "harder" more "hard plastic" like than my Rhino. Overall from taking to different people both are good products and the application is what really makes or breaks it for them. As long as you get a person that knows how to prep the bed properly you wll get a good product.

I would end this by basically saying this, with the Rhino your stuff won't slide arouns as much, but the liner is more "rubbery", the Line-x seems to be more like Hard Plastic and thus more resistant to getting gouged, but things will slide aroung in the bed easier. Good luck.
