What this upgrade worth?

I have an 02 Sierra 1500 extra cab 5.3 4x4 SLE with 49,500 miles. Its a nice clean truck Yesterday I stopped by the local Chevy dealer he has on the lot an 02 Chevy 2500 4x4 extra cab with 55,000 miles Traucks are in comparable shape with comparable options ,All power, what would a fair offer. I was thinking of my truck and $1500 cash

Sounds reasonable to me, but I am not a dealer so I do not know what is reasonable to them. Give it a try an see what happens. A used 2500 does not sell for a a lot more than a comparable used 1500. It depends on the region and what trucks are more in demand. In some places a used 1500 is actually woth more than a 2500 to a used truck dealer.

Make sure that other truck does not havea bad case of piston slap. My neighbor got rid of his 2002 2500 4X4 crew cab becuase he could not stand the noise.

 

Other things to consider: I would make sure that the 2500 in question was not owned by a contractor who pulled a 10,000 lb trailer with it around town all day long, every day. That will cause a lot more wear and tear on the truck than 100k+ miles under normal use.

Here in MN, 3/4 and full ton trucks especially 2500HD's are worth their weight in gold still. I consistantly find them on used dealer lots selling more than their 1/2 ton counterpart.

SVEN...............Amen to that !!!!!!!!!!!

In my neck of the woods in northern NY a late model 2500 x-cab 4x4 sells

faster and for THOUSANDS more that a similar 1500.

 

From todays Syracuse newspaper: 03 1500 x-cab 4x4 $16,500, 03 2500

x-cab 4x4 $19,000. Quite the difference huh?
