Transmission Noise

So heres the deal.

2006 Silverado Vortec Max 4x4

4L65e Trans

When im slowing down, under 20mph and I hit the gas to take off again like if you were slowing for a red light then it went green. I get a clunking sound that comes from I believe the transmission. It does it all the time but only only when accelerating after slowing down and under 20mph. I have had no other issues with the trans, everything works perfectly, it just makes this nasty sound.

Anyone?

Sounds like normal driveline clunk. When all the tolerances are accounted for there is enough slop to cause the clunk noise. It will not harm anything. BTW, the GM-Tech is taking some time off, he is not available to answer every query.

If there "tolerances" are that low, that is crap. If it is making that noise because the factorys specs are that poor something needs to be changed. People say Dodge has bad trannys but I tell you what, id take tha 48re 5 speed auto out of my ram over this POS 4 speed in my chevy anyday.

Are there others that have this same issue?

I am about to become the chevy dealers worst nightmare if this is "acceptable", because its not. There should not be that much SLOP.

Do a search for "driveline clunk" and you'll find a ton of info. The 800 series trucks were known to have an issue with the slip yoke making noise.

What's the "clunk" sound like? I may have a similar issue, but it sounds like I'm dragging a chain or turning a jar of broken glass. Only happens at low-speeds, noticeable when accelerating. Before anyone asks, I've checked lug nuts and also verified I wasn't dragging anything.

become your dealers worst nightmare, they'll fix it and it'll come back in 10K miles, its just the way the trucks are people have many varying oppinions about it... join the 50 thousand other chevy owners that cant wait to find a fix, it isnt bad for your truck bye any means, wont hurt your tranny life, and will not shorten the life of your truck your best bet is to just take ur mind off of it...

I have the same problem with a 2007 Silverado Z71, been to dealer twice, says that this is normal. Still fighting, this is not acceptable.

Our 2003 does this as well. Dealer says its normal... Drives me off the wall. I want the TH400 driveline back!

It's not "normal" and your dealer is lazy and should be on GM's shit can list. You need the new updated nickel plated slip yoke installed. I had it installed on my truck and it's now better than new! I never realized how much that noise annoyed me until it was gone. You can save quite a bit of money if you order it from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=214632

That's where I ordered mine from and my experience was excellent. You'll need to contact them with your Vin# and your requested part so you get the correct part for your vehicle.
