:driving: I'm very happy with the end result. The Magna flow muffler I chose sounds awesome. That whole V4 issue is not at all a problem. I attached a few pictures, hopefully they came out alright. I also picked up a bug guard, and two tool boxes for the back.

what size of tubing did u run and what size tips? looks sweet. i would love to hear it if possible.

I went with the 3" inlet to the muffler, out to 2.5" tail pipes with twin 3" tips. $380 out the door too.

You can hear it in the cab at idle but just a little better than stock. It really comes to life under acceleration, but purrs at cruise speed. Really only loud when you step down on the gas. As far as which Magna Flow muffler, it was the shortest of the three he asked me about. Also sounded the meanest. He placed 3 different magnaflow and three different Flowmaster mufflers on the pipe and then started the truck. There was one Flowmaster that seemed a little louder, but I think the loudest Magna flow seem to be better in the cab. If you want the same muffler call Johnny Franklins muffler in San Raphael, CA. 415-457-5512 and ask which one they put on my truck, they will remember it.

Also here is a picture of the GM tool boxes I put in today.

Congratulations Fred, they look good and you should be happy with them. I am running a MagnaFlow dual exhaust system on my truck (it's sort of an overkill) and I love it. I have a true dual exhaust system 3" pipes all the way throughout, with two catalytic converters and two 3" magnaflow performance mufflers. It IS loud, but only when I hit the excelarator hard. At highway speeds, you hear and sometimes feel a little rumble, but it is a small price to pay for the quality of sound and rumbling that I wanted.

fred; how is the muffler now after a few days? i'm thinking excactly the same muffler for my NBS 5.3; still not much cabin rumble? the v8//v4 still not very noticable? by the way great looking truck!

Very nice exhuast looks good. I was looking at those same tool boxes, do they fit under the rail? becuase I was going to get one but I also want a hard cover tonneau.

How has your fuel mileage varied? I was very excited to do the same after I purchased my 5.3 coming up on 2 years ago, with Flowmasters, but talked with a couple of guys who did the same who said it dropped their average mileage from in the 18s down to the 16s (2WD, in this case). I can see losing maybe 1 mpg at most. Nothing like the sound of a properly muffled Chevy small block, however, so I'm very very interested in your results. We'd all appreciate your posting a clip with the sound. Again, at highway speeds, say around 2K RPM, very little additional noise in the cab?

any ideas what the single outlet would be for the same pipe?? if anyone could help on that it would be much appreciated.

The exhaust note is awesome. It sounds mean but at highway speeds I can't even tell when it is in the V4 mode. It's only really making that mean sound when hitting the gas, at cruise speed it just purrs.

As far as the fuel mileage goes I just filled it with 681 miles on the clock and will be doing my first check on mileage with this tank. I'll post my results.

I just got the running boards on last Saturday and they look sweet. Friday night I purchased a billet grill from stylin trucks. I'm just about done with modifying the truck. I think right now it has a nice combination of quality mods. I'll measure my muffler length if anyone wants to know.

Hopefully I answered all ther questions, if not just ask.

Oh yeah the tool boxes are under the rail and would work perfect with a toneau cover.

I have a video camera but not real sure how to get that to play in here in a post.
