Oh what a fun week it's been, 4 days to install my new seat covers and still not right. They didn't line any of the seams up or smooth anything out, most of the trim wasn't fasten back, the messed up some trim, the driver seat feels like they left part of the padding out and they didn't fully put the jump seat back together. Oh and the best part of the whole thing is the nice deep scratches they put in my truck getting the seats in an out. They have me dropping the truck off Monday so they can fix everything. I went over everything that wasn't correct and also asked why they didn't send it to an upholstery shop since it was such a big job plus they only had one trim guy in the shop this week. The other fun part was being stuck in an HHR all week, I asked that they make sure I am in something with a little more room this coming week since I'm not on vacation anymore and have to actually drive. Here are some pictures, this is after I tried adjusting them while I waited for the shop manager to come over and see what a sloppy job it was. I also found it funny that they replaced the covers because of lint, I was asked to give them extra time so they could make sure it was cleaned up really good since they had the seats out and it had lint all over the jump seat and some kind of dirt or stain on the bottom of the back seats. Satisfied1999 hope you don't have any issues with yours.

Sparky I hope you make them pay fully for this mess, its totally unacceptable. I would not stop until they fixed every piece the messed up back to 100%. I would be soooooooo mad....I can feel the steam coming from my ears and its not even my truck.

THAT is exactly what I expected, which is why I decided to live with the lint. Sorry to see what they did to your truck, but thanks for posting those pics, it makes me feel much better about making the decision I did.

Yep, It's pretty sad when we have no confidence to let the dealerships touch anything w/o f****** it up. I also have held off on having mine replaced b/c of this. I have said before that GM should have this process outsourced to competent upholstery shops that do it on an day to day basis.

Posted

Well I finnaly got mine replaced about three weeks ago. After a long fought battle with GM. I must say the local dealership did a great job! The entire interior looks like it just came from the factory. They put a completely new center folding jumpseat cover! That was more that I expected. I wanted leather but GM would not agree to leather. How some of you got it done I will neve know because at no point during this four month fight would they agree to but here is the kicker my local dealer showed me the invoice and the parts alone were over $1000 and that did not include the labor. I could have gotten Katskins for less than that and did the install my self and saved them money but GM said NO! It is no wonder this company is in financial trouble. They would not even listen to common sence.

I concur with Mike's experience although I didn't ask them about leather. My new covers look like they were installed at the factory. They did a superb job.

Indeed the materials must have cost a lot. Add 10 hours of labor and I'm thinking that just ordering the entire seats with new covers installed from the factory might have been the same cost. Probably only an hour or two of labor with complete seats.

Who knows, but this has to have been an expensive warranty issue for GM.

I know I can get mine replaced but I went a different route and just got Wet okole seat covers and have no lint issues and now my seats are fully protected.

Well, here I am about two months later and my truck still isn't back to 100%. For what ever reason they can't seem to get my steering wheel in which it the last thing hey have to replace. They did a great job repainting my truck and fixing everything they screwed up. One of the set backs has been parts being shipped without packaging so they end up being in worst shape then what was on my truck. This has happen on all of the trim pieces I was told was on back order, wait a few weeks get in a part that is junk, wait another week and anew one comes in a box. The issue with the steering wheel seems to be they ordered one with the air bag which can only be sent by ground due to it containing "explosives". I offered to pay the difference on the cost of the wheel if they cold upgrade it to the one with radio controls if it would get things done faster so I could stop worrying about my truck. I only offered this since the service manager said they had the basic wheels in-stock and had just replaced one on another vehicle. I have also learned that the whole thing would have turned out a lot better had one of the trim guys not been on vacation. The one that was on vacation was going to be the guy to replace everything but instead I had a guy who seemed to have no clue. They also kept taking it back to the guy with no clue up until the last couple of times I've been back. Bob, the guy that was on vacation, is a really nice guy and has done a great job fixing everything. I still have some wrinkles and a few things that could have been done better but at this point I don't want to mess with it anymore so if you can't notice it from 3 feet away I'm not worried. Oh, did I mention that from what they told me my driver’s seat back and my rear seat are out of one of the 09's they had on the lot. They told me in an effort to save time and since the guy was having issues in getting it to look right they pulled them from a vehicle on the lot. I'll get pictures when it’s finally finished and a grand total on what it cost them when I get my book of a service ticket from them.

Make sure all your seats have been bolted back down I got mine back was on the way home from the Dealer came to a quick stop and my passanger seat flew up in to the front windsheild. Turned around went back to the dealer has some A@@ chewing then they fixed it but if some one would have been in the seat LAW SUIT!

This bulletin is being revised to add the AE7 option, which was previously excluded. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-50-018C (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).

Important: Implementation of this service bulletin by all dealers requires prior District Service Manager (DVM) (in Canada, the Warranty Manager) approval.

<A href="http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docSyskey=2294939&from=sm#ss1-2294939">

Condition

Some customers may comment on excessive lint accumulation on the cloth seat material. Darker colored seat fabric seems to show the condition more than lighter fabrics.

<A href="http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docSyskey=2294939&from=sm#ss2-2294939">

Cause

The source of the lint accumulation is not the seat fabric material. The seat material, though, exhibits a tendency to accumulate and retain lint from sources that come into contact with the fabric.

<A href="http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docSyskey=2294939&from=sm#ss3-2294939">

Correction

Important: All seats will need to be updated in the vehicle. Let customers with RPO 19D know that the appearance of the insert material will be noticeably different.

If the customer has ebony colored cloth seats, replace the seat covers (back and cushion), the headrests and the armrests with revised fabric. Refer to SI for the appropriate seat back and cushion cover, headrest and armrest replacement procedures.
