Tsb On Ebony Seat

So if the pic above is the before.. Can someone post what the new seat covers look like?

My seats are look exactly like ones above..

The picture is from what GM said was the fix, so the after. According to my service advisor, the backing on the seat covers is different. I don't know if it is a line of B.S. from them or what, but the lint collection is way less now. They still collect lint, but in no way nearly as bad as before, and it takes no effort to get the lint that is on there off.

My covers have been on order since Nov 23rd and it could be as long as 6 weeks before they come in the warranty rep said. I finally broke down and decided on the new covers as I have two other problems that need to be looked into. Front steering rack is seeping oil and I have a rattle in my drivers side door near the window. Might as well have the seat covers replaced. They will be doing them in house and its their first replacement so I guess I will be the guinea pig. I raised the question about paying the difference for leather vs the new seat covers. Well, the cost discrepency is very high and not worth it IMO for GM's leather anyway. GM could buy two sets of Katzkin's for the price of the new "less lint" cloth seat covers. I wish GM would copy Dodge and use the same cloth material in the 09+ Ram, it's very nice material and very stain resistant. I'll post when they are done along with pics...

Don't go first! I would wait and let them figure it out first. I was the first guy at my dealership and they came out terrible. After a huge fight and a second go around, they still don't fit anywhere near as well as the ones that came from the factory.

I second that, look back a couple of pages at what happen to my truck, first time the place ever tried any thing like this. My dealership is great about everything and made it right but I spent months going back and forth getting things fixed and waiting on parts.

my covers are on order and i was thinking about getting some grey ones (i really want some grey ones for my truck) but i decided to stick with black..

i am also the first one at this dealership and he told me at first it would just take a morning and then he told me it'd prob take an entire day.. i just hope they do everything right and i can get me some new seat covers!

i will be so happy when these bitches come through! i gotta get my moneys worth out of the warranty.. these are so damn hard to keep clean.

i'll be sure to take some before/after pics whenever they show up.

Ok so I contacted my dealership and let the service manager know what was going on and about the TSB listed above. I was told that the TSB only applies to vehicles under the 3 year 36k mile warranty and they couldn't help me out.

I have a 2007 NNBS with 40,000 miles on it. I bought it over the summer and received a GM Certified used warranty which apparently has a 1yr/12k mile bumper to bumper warranty which I am still under. Last time I checked the seats are between the bumpers.

Justin, is your truck under the original factory warranty?

I was wondering if anyone has run into this and if I am dealing with an uncooperative dealership or if I am SOL. Also i am wondering what this bumper to bumper warranty actually covers.

i'm still under factory warranty.. only 26k miles.

if you still have factory warranty left, they are obligated to honor your warranty.. but if you have over 40k miles the factory warranty should be done.

i would call another dealership in the area and see what they say (or the one you bought it from)

the GM certified warranty is a 5 year powertrain warranty i am pretty sure, not bumper-to-bumper so they aren't obligated to replace the seat covers if i understand you correctly.

i dont know about purchasing an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty or if they offered it to you.. i would get some paperwork from the dealership you got it from and make sure, but most likely it is a 5 year 100k mile powertrain warranty.

I have a "GM Certified Used" truck according to the paperwork that I have. Along with that comes a GM Certified Warranty which has a 1 year 12,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain.

I am just wondering what the "bumper to bumper" covers if they will not even cover a known problem that GM has recognized in a TSB....

Called the dealer to check on my order on my seat covers today. They said they have about 60% of the parts in and waiting for the rest. Said that they would be able to do the change after the first of the year cuz they are kninda backed up as of now. Said they will have it for at least two days. Can't wait to see them when I get them. Might swing in to the dealer to sneak a peek.

WOW! I am completely shocked!

So after my negative experience with my dealership telling me that I could not have my covers replaced because I am not under factory warranty (I hate being told I can't do something), I decided to call GM Warranty Customer Service....

I explained to the nice woman my point of view with my situation, she did some research, called the dealer for their perspective and said a higher level manager will be contacting me back in 24 hours (YEA RIGHT I THOUGHT!)

Well, not only did the regional service manager call me back within 24 hours, but he agreed with me and stated that he approved to have all of the seat covers replaced under warranty! I didn't even have to argue with anyone (which I hate doing anymore because it gets my blood pressure all jacked up).

What the Regional Rep did will keep me buying GM vehicles, now if my dealership rep would have called him for me so that I did not have to deal with it, that would have kept me buying GM vehicles from him....

alright it's done.. replaced the seat material fully covered under warranty (they even fixed my windshield washer hose)

here's a before shot at the dealership before i dropped them off. crappy pics because i had to get to work and i realize they aren't very detailed due to the lighting.. i was using my old point and shoot nikon. if you have the seats, you know what they look like.

here's a detail of the new covers.. they did a pretty good job.. there are parts where it's not perfect, but i am going to form it myself with a heat gun and some force to get them to unwrinkle and fit a little better. i was still surprised and impressed.

as far as the lint, they are much easier to clean. thanks gm! satisfied customer.

They look really nice. I can't wait till mine are complete.
