Tsb On Ebony Seat

I am assuming a lot of complaints like these are responsible for GM putting some of the ugliest seats ive seen in the 09's?

I just had the seats done on my 2008 Silverado. Took the dealer about 2 weeks to order the parts in and a day to do the job. They did an OK job but I just noticed there's a plastic strip that clips to the bottom of the drivers seat frame that wasn't hook up so the fabric is a little loose. I'll see if I can hook that plastic strip up myself but I have a feeling the seat will have to be removed to get at it.

I had a 99 Silverado and broke the sheet metal frame on passenger seat several times jumping in and out of it (used it to deliver mail and drove from the right side). I got so I could have the seat out and apart and welded back up and back in the truck in under an hour. There's not much to recovering these seats.

Hold on a minute. Many who have had issues with the seats like to hear updates from owners who had the TSB work done. This issue has also taken a while as GM initially did not have a fix and now seems to have a better solution to the problem.

If this topic or thread does not interest you, there's a simple fix. Don't open it.

I look at the screen and see topics that don't interest me. I don't open those. That doesn't mean I want others who are to stop discussing the topic at hand.

Holy crap.

I can't believe you guys are still beating this dead horse... and don't tell me what thread to chime in on.

I realize it was a valid issue.

OH HELL! Is that LINT on my seats?

OH THE HUMANITY!

:D

By all means Mr. Supporting Vendor, chime in on a thread you believe to be a dead horse to say, uh...it's a dead horse. LOL.

Pretty hard to resist prodding the lot of you seat lint warriors

Don't take this stuff so seriously.

Well...it must not bee such a dead horse for GM, they just released another version of this TSB at the end of June. I am sorry for posting this without the numbers, if I recall correctly it is the 'D' version of the TSB. I looked up the parts for the dark interior (the one that show the worst lint) and for the crewcab all the parts are available for immediate shipment.

This bulletin is being revised to add the AE7 option, which was previously excluded. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-50-018C (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).

Important: Implementation of this service bulletin by all dealers requires prior District Service Manager (DVM) (in Canada, the Warranty Manager) approval.

Condition

Some customers may comment on excessive lint accumulation on the cloth seat material. Darker colored seat fabric seems to show the condition more than lighter fabrics.

<A href="http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docSyskey=2294939&from=sm#ss2-2294939">

Cause

The source of the lint accumulation is not the seat fabric material. The seat material, though, exhibits a tendency to accumulate and retain lint from sources that come into contact with the fabric.

<A href="http://gsi.xw.gm.com/si/showDoc.do?docSyskey=2294939&from=sm#ss3-2294939">

Correction

Important: All seats will need to be updated in the vehicle. Let customers with RPO 19D know that the appearance of the insert material will be noticeably different.

If the customer has ebony colored cloth seats, replace the seat covers (back and cushion), the headrests and the armrests with revised fabric. Refer to SI for the appropriate seat back and cushion cover, headrest and armrest replacement procedures.

After having mine replaced 3 months ago they are still the same. Lint collectors. Not to mention some places that are coming apart in back buy the map holder. My warranty will be up soon so I am going to take it back in and complain some more. we'll see what happens.

This isn't what I wanted to read. I had my dealer order the parts to replace mine yesterday....

Keep us up to date on what happens with you.

Mine are getting installed tomorrow, service manager said this will be the first they have done and said at least a day to do. I'll get pics when I get the truck back.

Well, half way thru day three and they still have my truck! Really hope it comes back looking perfect with them taking this long to do it. I read how for some of you the dealer sent your truck to an upholstery shop; I think that it would have been cheaper going that way versus three days labor for a GM installer. Oh yeah they put me in an HHR while they work on my truck, the guy tried to tell me it was a full sized car (I'm six foot tall and 300lbs). :cheers:
