Tsb On Ebony Seat

Here s my update. On my 07 I made the complaint and was waiting like everyone else. I sold the truck and now own a 09 with leather and everyone is still waiting for GM to do something. The 09 s I looked at all had the same side material and the center matieral was different. Everytime the dealer would show me a 09 with cloth, "Not again" was my answer. I can t believe this post is still going on :D

Who has the best price on Katskins for the 2008 crew cabs? What does it cost to install?

Try this guy:

CLINT DRENNEN

DEALER SELECT SERVICES

850-819-0818

[email protected]

He had some good prices, and his shipping rates are good. I am in Canada, so obviously I am paying more for shipping and install, but the leather shipped to me was about $700.00, and install was $400.00. Your shipping will be less (being in the US).

Cheers.

Ive had my new covers for a couple of weeks. My two cents. Buy yourself the Kats and be done with it.

I waited for over a year for a fix. They still collect lint. They had my truck three days. They did a half ass install and a half ass fix. The other dealership in town said it looked like the best they could do as well. The only diff is the center swatch. It only takes about 10 minutes longer to vacuum the old seats. They look nicer, feel nicer and actually fit. Either grin and bear your old covers or go for Kats. The new covers are a joke.

Here is my new front seat cover. As you can see it still collects every bit of lint it touches. It also makes cotton balls similar to how my old covers did when they were new. It is a little hard to see in the pics but the side bolsters are covered in that really fine clear lint that seems to come from inside the seat.

Here is the back seat. The only portion fixed is highlighted. The rest is the same as always.

Here is a couple of the fit. The whole truck looked like this. They did a second run and cleaned it up a little but it doesn't look at all like a factory truck.

Wow, I can't believe you took the time to type something that useless. Thanks.

Alright, so I got mine replaced today. I waited about a month for all 16 parts to come in. I didn't realize that the replacement plan was just to install the premium seat option. I hadn't read that anywhere. Oh well, the truck smells new again and at least the middle portions will be fine. I am sure the edges will still collect lint, as it is the exact same material.

I dropped my truck off yesterday afternoon and got a call at 2 pm today that it was done. The fit is great. I don't have any issues with them looking as sloppy as previous pics in this post.

Good luck to everyone still waiting! :nonod:

Well, believe it. The TSB is listed in this thread, just like I said. What's your problem with that? Go search for it just like one of us would have to do to give you the answer.

None of us have it memorized, you know? It does apply to '07's though.

If your vehicle is less than two model years old, you have to go through a Katzkin dealer to order, unless they've changed that policy.

Did anybody that got the new seat covers also get a new center console? They put a new one in mine and the back part of it is deeper than the orginal.

    • Using experience to justify bad advice is lazy and typical of someone incapable of articulating why their advice is prudent.    This immediately sets off the BS alert and the advice that followed certainly qualified.   Asking an idiot for help getting out of dumb situations because he is an expert... at getting himself into dumb situations.   Unless I've been living in an alternate universe - the first thing everyone does when getting into a sticky situation is shift to a higher gear 🤨.   Of course not, the torque multiplication, mechanical advantage and finer control typically afforded by the lower gear is far better suited for this scenario.   There ARE scenarios where a higher gear MIGHT be appropriate determined more by the drivers ability to control EXCESSIVE wheel spin versus applying torque to the ground.
    • I'm not sure I agree with "extreme" low speed, high torque sentiment here with regards to the prescribed use of low range. How about...whenever it's needed?   A 2.72:1 transfer case and whatever differential gears these Silverados have (3.42's, maybe?) aren't producing "extremely" low crawl speeds. Or insanely high torque multiplication. Even with the 1st gear in these newer transmissions. But it does provide mechanical advantage and potentially better control at slower speeds. And with extra weight or towing, I think it adds mechanical sympathy for the truck as well.   Plus, traction control and the other assists generally turn off when you shift into low range. Those aren't needed here, they'll work against you if you need wheel spin. In high range you'll need to figure out how to turn off the various modes those assists provide. Depending on the vehicle, those things don't all automatically turn off or turn completely off.   While I agree that a farmer might have some great practical experience, a recommendation to "always" using one gear isn't very informed advice. If the farmer had said WHY and could explain the physics behind his prescriptive "always" I'd definitely listen. The way he's described here makes it sounds like he could either be uninformed or is telling everyone what worked for him, not necessarily that there could be a more advantageous way about things.
