I've had mine a week now. I had the LT1 seat covers. The fabric in the middle insert in new to me. No hair or anything stuck in it. The rest of the fabric is the same. So basically, the majority of the seat collects lint just like it did before. Except now the covers are loose and wrinkled and look like cheap seat covers.

I have had mine for about 10 days so far and the install looks perfect, no issues at all. As far as the lint issue, the middle insert part of the seats top and bottom is not a problem with lint at all. The outside seat bolsters are collecting some lint but nothing like my originals seat covers did. I feel better now with just cleaning the outside bolsters than the entire seat..

I am still satisfied with my decision to do the seat cover changeout but then again, my install looks as good as the factory covers looked. If I had a bad install like the above user did, I might feel different than I do..

So far mine are great. They do seem to still collect more lint than I’m used to, but all my other seats have either been the pewter or pleather/vinyl. But the best part is that the lint that is on there vacuums off with ease. On another note, when they changed the covers it feels like they changed the bolster padding material, it’s a bit deeper than the original. Overall the seats feel better and the lint that does collect, albeit minor compared to the old ones, comes right off. The service advisor told me that they use the same material but that the backing is different.

My service department just called and my truck is ready for pick-up! I'll report later. :shakehead:

Oh, this should be good...real good :D

Odds are that it will have collected lint on the way home from the dealership :D

Okay, as has been stated, the new seats look just like the "Premium" Cloth seats. I had the "Select" cloth before which was basically the bolster material across the entire seat. The Premium material is much blacker and much slicker than the Select and looks as though it should not hold nearly as much lint. The bolsters and headrests do look to be the exact same material so let's hope the new backing material that has been claimed solves the problem.

It's obviously too early to know yet about the lint issue but I will say that the installation was flawless and looks as though it just came from the showroom floor. The installers did phenomenal work.

My dealership here in Indy is Ray Skillman GMC and they outsource this work to Don's Auto Trim. I even got to drive a Malibu for my loaner. Not a bad GM car compared to those I have driven previously. Much better than the Sunfire and Grand-Am my wife owned in the past. WONLOADS better than the Aveo I had last time. :D

That's all I have but I'd definitely suggest that anyone with the Select cloth should have the swap performed. While I didn't care much about the seating material when I bought the truck, this upgraded look is a bit nicer. :shakehead:

If you already have the Premium material, you might as well go get new seats anyway.

Hubler called today and said they got my seat covers in as well. I am gone next week so I am going to drop it of friday and let them work on it. I told them I wanted Don's Auto trim to do it. I hope they do a great job as well

If they get Don's to do it and they do it as well as they did mine, you will be happy. :D

Hey All,

Yes first post but I spend a lot of time here reading. My dealer agreed to replace my seat covers with the new ones that are supposed to fix the problem. After seeing the new fabric I knew that they were going to have the same lint collecting issue so asked if I could have leather installed instead and I'd pay the difference in cost. Got an immediate no from service so took it up with the GM. He called the regional rep for sales and got passed on the the regional service guy. Got another no, they have done it before but are no longer. Called GM warranty 800 line and after giving the nice lady all my info, she transferred my to my dealer's service manager so he could tell me no again.

I thought I was being very fair in offering to pay the difference and can't see why they would refuse, but I guess they don't care. Does anyone have contact information for someone further up the food chain that might be more reasonable? As it stands, I'll have the new fabric installed just to cost GMC the money and will either live with the problem or if business improves have the leather done myself. But unless something happens and GMC agrees to my proposal I'm done with GM. After a miss spent youth of owning imports, I've been a GM buyer for over a decade but this has me thinking import again.

Thanks for all the information you guys provide,

Jerry

Over some seat covers? Really?

Give it some time and see how they perform.

No not just over seat covers. Because I made a reasonable offer to cover any difference in cost but they refused out of hand. I call that unresponsive to a customers request. They would be out nothing and have a happy customer instead of one who is pissed because of f-ing company policy.

Except for the fact that they would be trying to do a free warranty replacement from fabric to leather. It's like going out to eat, you ordered the side of fries, but now you want a steak, but are only willing to pay the difference.

I had my seat covers replaced a few months ago. They were just like the covers that came on my truck when new. They collect lint just the same also.

    • consider doing electrical testing?  I would guess some power or ground wire/connection has a problem.   alldata.com has wiring diagrams, connector pinouts and diagnostic procedures you can use to find where the problem is.
    • can you tell if the reader is actually trying to get codes, and the pcm is reporting none, or is your reader just silently failing because it's not communicating with the pcm?
    • Any joy with this truck seems to be short-lived.   The CEL for P0172 ("bank 1" too rich) is now "intermittent".   I'm not sure where to check, or re-check, and my energy to keep chasing problems with junk is wearing thin. The P0172 seems to set as I'm coming to a stop, completely off the throttle, when fully warm. At least, that's what it's done the 3? times it's set.   Everything appears normal on the scanner EXCEPT long term fuel trim. There's only one bank on this vehicle because it's an OBD 1.5 with only one upstream O2 sensor. At idle, it's around -16.4% and will dip to -18% occasionally at idle or off-throttle. LTFT approaches 0 when throttle is held at 2500rpm. Short term appears normal, much closer to zero all the time. The LTFT tells me the engine is running rich at idle but compensating at higher load. But, why?   The EVAP purge valve doesn't appear to be leaking/sucking fuel vapor continuously. Is it sticking just as I come to a stop and the engine is choking on fuel vapor and sets the P0172? But that doesn't explain the persistently negative LTFT. Disconnecting the purge valve doesn't seem to make any difference.   I suppose that leaves another dang issue with the fuel injector. A leaking fuel pressure regulator, a new leak in the spider, or a leaking fuel injector/poppet valve I didn't see, or a small crack in one of the spider legs.   The vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator doesn't have raw fuel in it. It doesn't even smell like fuel when it's pulled off, not until you suck air through it, then you can tell it leads to a fuel component. I'd consider that normal? Nothing is signaling this is a FPR issue from the outside, at least.   The oil smells like fuel but it's not building volume. I've noticed most oil in most engines smells like fuel to some degree so it's hard to say if the smell is an issue or not. Or if the engine just still smells like fuel because the crankcase was full of it a few hundred miles ago. But it's been changed twice since that original issue of the leaking fuel line dumping fuel into the intake.   Patience is running very thin. Every win seems to be accompanied by two steps backwards, or another issue that leads to removing at least the top half of the intake manifold. Enough! LOL
    • First off you mentioned "Toyo Says" and then gave the pressures 45/50, was this some person at the tire shop that pulled those numbers out of his head ?   Now of course I can't know your exact axle weights front and rear, however I have much the same pickup as yourself other than not knowing your starting weight as per the pounds the truck rolled out of the factory at due to the options yours did or didn't come with or what you have added beyond the extra tire weight. The correct way to know 100% where a person is at is by weighing each axle with the typical weight the vehicle is driven with and that means taking into account passengers and making sure you figure in a full tank of fuel and a little grace for whatever you may put in the bed "groceries" !    I am looking at and not that it really matters as all the tire companies use the same charts anyway, but I am looking at the comprehensive Toyo tire chart in the section that your tire falls under and I know it sounds confusing but your tire is not an LT metric tire like your factory tire but instead because its a standard inch measured tire its under a different category called an LT floatation series tire. That makes a difference as LT metric tires they don't want to see run below 35 psi at highway speed where as with the LT floatation series it can be run down to 25 psi on the highway as long as the weight on the said size of tire is agreeable with or less than that minimum 25 psi. It blows many people away that how is this physically possible, an empty truck for one thing and larger tires with the same size wheel diameter have a lot more air volume so they can carry the same weight as the smaller tire with less air pressure.    So my truck, I have the stock 275/65R20 wheels and tires and I have a bit of weight in the box with a bak flip cover and a rubber bed mat and some tools and spare gas. The front of my gas truck weighs a bit more than some trucks of the similar spec due to double batteries and alternators. However with full fuel and just me in the truck I am weighted such that I can run 40 front and 35 rear and so that is what I have done since day one.    If I base your truck at or slightly below the weight of my truck, in theory with your tires going by the tire chart you might be right around a minimum of 30 pounds front and 25 pounds rear. Of course that would hit pretty much minimum cold inflation pressure one could run with that tire size and a near empty truck. If you have access to an accurate weigh scale to do individual front and rear axle weights I would suggest you do that and make sure your topped up with fuel and whatever else in the truck before you weigh it and then you will have a great starting point to work off of and figure out what your bare minimum pressures are you can safely run. If you do much in the way of hot weather high speed driving, bumping up a bit for a safety margin is never a bad idea but just depends on what type of driving you do. I will include the Toyo chart and the floatation series sizes start on page 31. Without a doubt at these pressures I am speculating at minimum wise for your truck, it would most certainly ride very different then it did when you were using 55 lb front and rear.     https://www.toyotires.com/media/pxcjubjs/application_of_load_inflation_tables_20200723.pdf
