Tsb On Ebony Seat

Recommended Posts

Looking at 09 s, the sides and headrests appear they will have the same problem with lint. Saw all the lint on the headrest of a new 09 and told the dealer to find a leather truck without it being fully loaded. Not going thru that again!

here you go...sorry it took so long.

At the risk of being chastised for being ignorant and not reading the entire 50+ pages, I thought the TSB was for the ebony seats. I thought ebony was the same as black - why are the pictures of the light titanium? Did I miss something here? My service mgr told me only the ebony sets were covered. Can anyone shine some 'light' on this?

Thank you,

Brian

Finally convinced another dealer that my seats were "excessively linty" today, so I will be having my seat covers changed to the 50% lint magnet covers.

The other dealer was being ridiculous, and I just could not deal with them for this problem any more.

Let's just hope that they get the right covers  But at this point, I am just happy I was able to get somewhere.

I have a random question. It appears that obviously some dealers are more willing than others to take care of the issue. My service manager was excited that I brought up this issue. He stated that he recieves a commission on the parts/labor. Do different dealers work differently?

I have no idea about other dealerships, but mine surely does not do things that way. I had nothing but problems with the service department.

I am having the new covers installed today. I looked at the new covers and the part numbers and the covers are the same that I already have. I'll let all know if the lint is still an issue. That shouldn't take long to find out.

I went to the dealer for an oil change today and while I was there I looked at an 09 Sierra with the new interior. There was lint everywhere except the center section. I took a crappy cell phone pic but it doesn't show it. I find it hard to believe that they would let a truck in the showroom and available for anyone to look at, sit there with the seats covered in lint. There were several colors of lint and hair so I think that everyone that sat in it left some lint of their own.

I don't know why your all complaining. If someone ever steels our trucks, there will be more fibers, DNA, and lint from the thief then a CSI tech could shake a stick at!

I'm not really complaining, I don't mind spending a little time each weekend with the lint brush. I'm only saying that someone should be taking care of the vehicles on the showroom a little better. I got to imagine selling that vehicle covered in lint would be a chore. The new covers are only a little bit of an improvement if any, considering the feel of the new cloth. I'm keeping my original cloth as the new stuff looks cheap and obviously isn't much better or worth the effort.

Service called me this afternoon and said the seats would not be finished until tomorrow and come in and get a rental car til it is finished. I went to get the loaner car and checked on the progress. It looks the same but with new covers. The rental car is a chevy impala and the cloth seats don't collect lint. It has a material like the late 1990's Suburban material was. Why don't they make the covers like the 2009 Impala. That would solve the problem.

Just got a call this morning, last cover got in late yesterday, getting them put on tomorrow. All I had to do is tell the dealer that there was a TSB, gave them the number, they looked it up and ordered the parts and that was that. Took about 2 weeks to get all the covers in, I went to parts and looked at them and they seem a little more stiff in the middle section but I think that it will soften up some as it gets broken in, time will tell.

I called my dealer on friday, they said bring it by so they can get some info and then they will order the new covers. So far they seem very cooperative. We'll see what happens.

I also took my 07' Tahoe LT in for some warranty work at the dealership yesterday. The finish on the dual zone air conditioning control panel buttons was peeling off. I don't know if any of you have had that issue yet, but they had to replace the whole control panel.

While I was there, I asked about replacing the seat covers and they told me that they were not aware of any such thing. I had a print out of the technical bulletin and even showed it to them. After I dropped it off, the service guy called me a few minutes later telling me that he had the tech look into it and they did find that GM would replace the covers but had to order the parts. Should take a week to come in. Hope they look okay in the Tahoe because he mentioned there was a bold notice saying that it would change the look of the interior. I will be the first one that my dealership has ever done.
