Kaptain, what where the part numbers they were ordering? I want to compare to the numbers they ordered for me. Ms3dale gave the part number earlier are they the same?

I will try to remember to post them when I get an invoice.

Most major manufactures will deny a warranty claim such as these seats if the replacement part numbers do not match the numbers on the TSB.

My dealer had to get permission from his regional manager to install leather... otherwise they would have done it months ago.

For me the time consuming part of this experience has been trying to convince the regional manager to put leather in. My dealer even gave me his cell phone number so I could bug him

He had ever excuse in the book why he didnt want to install leather.

First was the RPO codes would not match anymore, instead of cloth I would have leather. He said this is bad for resale; :) ya sure....

Next he told me that leather would throw off the passenger seat sensor for the air bag. This is due to the elastisity of cloth to leather. He didnt really think that excuse through. I told him if that's the case, wrap all my seats in leather and replace the complete passenger seat; problem solved. He changed the subject.

The of course he started to tell me that new fabric would be available at the end of 2008. Well it looks the same to me.

So for those of you who have not read all 31 pages of posts here are my words of advise.

Keep your cool, don't get mad at your dealer or any dealer for that matter. They do not have the authority to install new cloth or leather in your pickup, they must call their regional manager to get authorization.

Call the Chevy 1800 number and get your lint problem logged with them.

Last of all, you can catch more bees with honey.

If you want to fight Chevy go for it and see where it gets you. My lawyer told me that if my seats are functional then they really don't have to do anything. There is nothing that says the 2007 silverado's come with lint free seats. So really they are putting leather in my pickup not because they have to, but because it's the right thing to do.

Again be patient.

Anyone know what it will cost to have heat installed with my leather?

whats this number you talk of?

I believe I found it in the back of the owners manual.

hey guys my trucks at the dealership being serviced right now and i called my service advisor and asked him about just paying the difference and getting leather installed and he said he would get me a price quote from his manager.... so my question is what should i expect to pay? i know leather alone is like 1500 to get installed, but what number should i have in mind for just paying the difference?

Hi everyone, this is my first post however I have been reading on the forum for awhile and I just added a new account (which finally works).

So I went to the dealer today and asked them about the tsb on the seats. She wasn't aware of one but after looking in the computer, she said my 2008 Sierra with ebony can be changed at their expense. I asked if I could upgrade to leather and she said that wasn't possible. I also asked about the quality of the seats since I have the premium cloth seats and the only thing she said it had in the description was "significant change".

So, I have no idea what these new seat covers look like and I have no idea whether I should go through and order them and ghet them replaced?

There are some pictures posted a few pages back. The center material is uglier but at least won't hold lint. The outside material is the exact same.

It's a poor fix and I won't be wasting my time with it. I may talk to my dealer about upgrading to leather, or even installing Katskinz (that I pay for) on their dime as an exchange. Doubt it will get me anywhere though, and I can't afford to do anything for a little while anyway.

Why would they say it was not possible to upgrade to leather? Was she meaning that she will not pay for it, or it was not possible to get it done? Interesting. I switched to Katzkin leather seats and they are great. However, I had to pay to get this done, but the dealership paid for the installation, which would have cost me $500.00 or more. Is it possible for you all to work a deal with your service departments, obviously you would have to pay for part of it, but at the end of the day you will have the seats you want rather then some cheap substitute?

When I ordered my Katzkins for my '07, I was asked if I had fabric or factory leather. The leather pattern from Katzkins differs if you had factory cloth vs. factory leather. When the first TSB came out on this, and after the dealer installed the front seats, but then found out the back seat was not going to fit, I asked about leather. I was told the factory leather would not fit my seats, that the seats themselves differ. Does not make much sense to me, but that is what they told me. I figured they were feeding me a line, and decided to go with Katzkins on my own dime.

She said the dealership would not let me pay the difference on the leather seats and get them installed over the new seats. I was thinking of getting it done as well as the heated windshield washer recall but now I have to deal with my truck going to the body shop. I had a blow out taking a turn and smashed into a mail box to avoid flipping my truck down an embankment. It was a great way to start Valentine's Day, let me tell ya.

Well, I am going to the dealer later on this week to see if they can replace the fabric on these seats. For those of you who have managed to get the leather upgrade, could you post how much it was to upgrade to leather? Any info. would help.

I did not go the GM route for the upgrade (not sure if you are set on going that way), but I ordered Katzkin leather seat covers, and they set me back $700 and was quoted $500 for installation. My service dept paid for the install so that helped.

I'm not really set on anything. I am trying to use the TSB, and upgrade my seats to leather. I would be fine with these seats, if it weren't for the lint issue. Now, the new seats don't look any better than my current ones, so the best option is to upgrade to leather. I am hoping to have the local dealer comp. the install of either the OEM leather seats OR get some Katzkin. The problem is that the dealer I purchased the truck from shut down a few months ago, so I'll have to go to another dealer, and I really won't have too much leverage with them.

My truck goes in tomorrow for factory leather. I purchased heated seats from seatheater.com, I have installed all of the wiring included with the kit. Tomorrow the dealer will finish up by putting the heating elements under the leather.

I took many pictures during the course of the install. I will post them up when I get a chance.

Good luck on all of that. My seat covers have been ordered for 2 weeks now. I keep getting the run around from the service department. Originally it they said 2-3 days for shipping and they would call. Well 4 days later I called them and they said that they had all the seat covers, and that they were just waiting for a speaker, maybe another 3 days. Gave them 4 more days and then called back, she said that she had just tracked the shipment and that it was due to arrive the next morning and that she would call me as soon as it arrived. Gave her 2 more days and called her back, this time she said that they were back ordered until at least March 6th. Sorry to rant but it pisses me off that I’m getting the runaround.
