is this just for the seat covers and also the foam underneath? a bit confused..been reading different things

Its just for the covers themselves, not the foam.

The tsb does not appear to include the 09 models. Is that correct? I just bought an 09 Silverado with the ebony seats and these seats are lint traps. Should I take the TSB to my dealership anyway when I bring this up? Has anyone else reported this with the 09s?

The TSB is for the '07-'08 models,Not the '09s.

Dealer received the 3rd set of incorrect ebony cloth seats for my pickup last week. We have been at this for over a year now.

They called today, ebony leather has been ordered for my pickup.

Now I just need to figure out how to get heat installed at the same time.

Anyone know the difference it would be to tell the dealer to install leather instead of the sub-par new material... i.e. new cloths will cost them X. leather minus new cloths would be x out of pocket? install is not in the factor since they are going to be doing it anyway? im calling my dealer tomm.

i would be mildly interested in a leather upgrade, but more interested in just getting a credit against future service or other accessories.

Kaptain, what where the part numbers they were ordering? I want to compare to the numbers they ordered for me. Ms3dale gave the part number earlier are they the same?

I will try to remember to post them when I get an invoice.

Most major manufactures will deny a warranty claim such as these seats if the replacement part numbers do not match the numbers on the TSB.

My dealer had to get permission from his regional manager to install leather... otherwise they would have done it months ago.

For me the time consuming part of this experience has been trying to convince the regional manager to put leather in. My dealer even gave me his cell phone number so I could bug him

He had ever excuse in the book why he didnt want to install leather.

First was the RPO codes would not match anymore, instead of cloth I would have leather. He said this is bad for resale; :) ya sure....

Next he told me that leather would throw off the passenger seat sensor for the air bag. This is due to the elastisity of cloth to leather. He didnt really think that excuse through. I told him if that's the case, wrap all my seats in leather and replace the complete passenger seat; problem solved. He changed the subject.

The of course he started to tell me that new fabric would be available at the end of 2008. Well it looks the same to me.

So for those of you who have not read all 31 pages of posts here are my words of advise.

Keep your cool, don't get mad at your dealer or any dealer for that matter. They do not have the authority to install new cloth or leather in your pickup, they must call their regional manager to get authorization.

Call the Chevy 1800 number and get your lint problem logged with them.

Last of all, you can catch more bees with honey.

If you want to fight Chevy go for it and see where it gets you. My lawyer told me that if my seats are functional then they really don't have to do anything. There is nothing that says the 2007 silverado's come with lint free seats. So really they are putting leather in my pickup not because they have to, but because it's the right thing to do.

Again be patient.

 Well, this new seat cover, is no fix, merely a small improvement. The sides still collect lint just like before.

I would recomend everyone to hold out for leather, or just keep your lint traps. :)

I figured that,Or I should say I was afraid of that.

All the '09s I looked at on lot have the same material/fabric as my '07

Thats stupid. My complaint about my linty seats has been the side. It's like going into the doctor with a broken toe and a broken back and having the doc fix your toe.

Oh why can't they just use the material/fabric from the '99-up classic trucks :lol::lol::):)
