Tsb On Ebony Seat

I have been waiting 6 weeks for all of my covers to be delivered. I was told this week that 3 of them are on back order and the dealership has zero idea when they will be available.

If you have a crewcab, I don't think you will be getting the covers in 2 weeks..

I waited 8 weeks to get all the parts. I just had the covers installed. It took my dealership three days to get it done. In the process they broke two trim parts on the back seat. So, it has to go back. To be honest I cant tell a whole lot of difference. The good think is, I now have the new car smell back.

I also took my 07' Tahoe LT in for some warranty work at the dealership yesterday. The finish on the dual zone air conditioning control panel buttons was peeling off. I don't know if any of you have had that issue yet, but they had to replace the whole control panel.

While I was there, I asked about replacing the seat covers and they told me that they were not aware of any such thing. I had a print out of the technical bulletin and even showed it to them. After I dropped it off, the service guy called me a few minutes later telling me that he had the tech look into it and they did find that GM would replace the covers but had to order the parts. Should take a week to come in. Hope they look okay in the Tahoe because he mentioned there was a bold notice saying that it would change the look of the interior. I will be the first one that my dealership has ever done.

Where can I get a copy of the technical bulletin about the seats bc my dealer told my dad they never heard of it. Thanks

Got my truck back today with the new covers installed. They look the same as the old ones. There is something that might say that they are using the same parts with new part numbers. On my SERVICE INVOICE they used an old part number for the panel on the back of the front seat. All of the parts had a new numbers except this number 15933733. If they changed the material this would have to be changed also . It is not.

I went to the local auto show today and looked at the interior on the '09 trucks. The insert section looked like the one in the picture above this post, and the bolster area was a courser looking material/thread pattern than what I have in my '08.

The bolster area in the picture above this post looks a lot like what I have now (but it may just be the way the pic looks). I'm starting to wonder if there are three different versions; Old Insert/Old Bolster Area , New Insert/Old Bolster Area , New Insert/New Bolster Area???

The TSB # is 07-08-50-018B. This is a revised number from the original one that came out. I just did a search on the internet for this and the details of it came up on a site. At my dealership no one in the service department that I talked to had access to look up the TSB's. According to them only a technician can pull this information up. Hope this helps. Below is part of the TSB but does not list the part numbers. I have a copy of the original TSB if you would like to see it but the part numbers are not valid.

Had my new covers installed last Friday. Looks and feels exactly the same and!!!!... looks like lint is already collecting on the seats just like the old ones. So the only thing out of this was that I have new seat covers after 25,000 miles. Oh well, looks like I'll have to get some Kat Skins in a few months.

So 20 plus days with the new seat covers and there is very little lint, and what lint is on them, comes off easy. I'm glad I had them change them out.

Interesting how the opinions differ in consecutive posts. I can't decide if it's worth it or not to have the swap done.

Look, can someone who's been keeping track of this sum up the whole project. I'm not reading 54 pages! And if you don't mind, would you also PM me the answer so I don't spend forever trying to find where i posted it.

Is it only Ebony or does Titanium cover.

Are they also giving away seat covers? or just replacing the cushons.

Well, I had the answer all typed out, but then I saw you wanted it PMd to you, so you would not have to read the post to find the reply. So, I saved you the trouble by deleting what I originally typed, so you won't have to worry about finding it. :rollin:

I'd swap them if you didn't have the shinier inserts to begin with. Looks like the TSB will help those owners the most.

The '07 SLE-2 I have already has those inserts to begin with. If the material on the sides is still the same, there would be no reason to change them out :rollin:

Tough to read through this many pages
