Battery Drain

Hi all,

I could use some help. I have a 1994 GMC Sierra SLE 1/2 ton pickup, all stock. My problem is a slow drain on the battery. Here is what tests I have performed so far. I removed all fuses, then one by one reinstalled them until I found which circuit was causing the drain. It is the 20 amp ctsy. With all the fuses removed and all the working lights removed, doors closed, I hear a faint sound from tape player/equalizer unit. Sounds like zzzzzzzz then stops. I pull the fuse wait 5 seconds, put it back in then hear the same sound. This doesn't make sense to me with all the other fuses removed. Everything works fine with all the fuses in even the radio-tape player-equalizer all work fine. I have electrical schematics for the 95' model, not sure if any changes were made between 94' and 95.'

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

May be tough to do, but replace it with another eq unit.

Your equalizer is definitely causing the battery to drain down. Remember, the radio / eq unit are wired directly to 12 volt hot at all times, which means it is wired, from the factory, to the battery.
