Useful Space --- Extended Cab

There are so many more positives about the NBS than there will ever be about brand "F" in my opinion, but here is a very small gripe I have with my Sierra vs. my, now history, 03 F 250...

I forgot I had the 250 photo posted here . I noticed that there seemed to be less useful space, even with the seats up, in the Sierra vs. the 250.

The floor under the 250SD rear seat is virually FLAT. I had much more useful space there in the 250.

Just a small thing, but interesting to me....

You are comparing a 1/2 ton against a 3/4 ton truck.

I had a 2003 F159 EC prior to my Crew Sierra. I noticed the same thing under the back seat. Less usable space under the seat.

My 1990 Chevrolet 1500.

My 2008 GMC Sierra.

Both regular cab long bed.

I do have a sense of more space with the 1990. It might be the full bench seat in the 1990 or maybe the way the dash is laid out in the 1990 vs the 2008.

I do miss the full bench seat.

I love how easy it is to get to the area under the seat but once you are there, there isn't much room to put anything. That 'just lift' idea was great. I'd like to see the seat cushion not be so thick to provide a little more depth for items under the seat.

If one raised the cab up higher on the frame rails, the floor could be flat.

So it's a classic design trade-off, do you want a low step in height or a flat floor?

If the cab were raised to have the flat floor, there would be people complaining about how hard it is to climb up into the cab.

How about those exposed seat brackets on the Ford? They seem like they would be in the way for loading/unloading under-seat cargo, especially with the seats up.
