hi there all gm techs out there. i know there is a lot of posts for cerp. belt noises but i wanna make sure on my truck. new ac delco belt, all pulleys spin free, no debriss or grease on them. my question is does the p/s pulley being missaligned apply to my truck or is there someother fix for the 2004 5.3 trucks? thanks!

Noise with a new belt might well indicate a bad idler pulley bearing. Many spin freely when the belt is off but make racket when there is tension on them. It's a really common problem. I've replace them on nearly every 2000 and newer GM truck I've had. I'd replace the idler and tensioner pulleys (if so equipped) at the same time since they are available rather inexpensively at the local auto parts shop. It's a ten minute job.

Also check A/C belt. someone reminded me last week after suggesting a fix I forgot about that one. If you have a/c look to make sure there is not 2 belts if there is remove the a/c belt and see if the noise goes away. If it does do yourself a favor and replace both belt and tensioner.

sorry, forgot to mention that i replaced the a/c belt and noise was still there. i did remove the a/c belt when the noise first started coming around and no change. thanks
