alright im building a mud truck. my dad has a old retired jacked up tow truck but has no use for it any more. it is a 1974 custom delux, wieghs about 15,000 lbs and right now it has a custom over 20" of lift and concrete truck tires. currently has 6.50 gears with a 5 speed manual.

but it hasnt ran in about 5-7 years.

the water pump is bad so i planed on buying a new one. IT TURNS OVER!! but obviously doesnt fire. there is NO coolent, very little oil and very little Tranny fluid.

i have a list of things to maybe getted started tell me what you think

Battery

Change Oil

Dump oil in cylinders

New spark plugs

Maybe drain gas tank??? im not sure

i would like help i would like to get this thing running. even though it is by no means street legal and never will be. but i want to get it running.

If it hasn't run for so long and has very little oil, I would certainly put some in.

Also pull the plugs and check for spark.

PS. sounds like it's gonna be one great mud machine! :)

Change the oil and filter, change plugs, wires, cap and rotor, drain all the old gas if you can and add some new good stuff. The carb is probably all gummed up a bit also drain bowls if you can and shoot it with some WD-40 before and while cranking it.

We've got a couple old trucks like that but they sure arent retired yet, both are tandem axles and have grain boxes on them. One is a 73, with a 366 BB and a 4+2 trannyand a tag axle, and the other is a 75' with a 427 and an allison auto and its a twin screw.
